Compass has now joined the RTP bandwagon, or the Rotary Transition program. When people look at this , it usually means Army aviators get a shot at becoming fixed wing pilots. If you want an idea of how qualified and capable they are, this would be it. I’m all for bringing these guys on. They are no nonsense, solid guys , and have a wealth of knowledge to bring with them. Details to be forthcoming on that within the week. Long and short of it, it gets those guys their 250 hours of fixed wing time and associated requirements for a restricted ATP.
That also said, I’m in agreement with BobbyLeeSwagger here; this is now the fourth or fifth time within two weeks someone has decided to drop the scab label. We aren’t striking, there isn’t talk of it, stop using it so glibly. Leave that infamous title for the **** stains that have rightfully earned it.
Call them scrubs, pond scum, oxygen thieves, window lickers, Ruh tards, cranyon eating, or whatever creative insults you can come up with. But leave the title “scab” to those who have earned it.

not even close to how it works or how the company is using it. why would the company cover 20 seats in your 70-30 example by paying those 20 seats 50% more. It wouldn't. the company is doing this because it sees that it will be short FOs in the near future and the training pipeline isn't as full as they need it to be. It's for literally no other reason than to staff the right seat while they get caught up. It's because of poor planning, not some business strategy that they're doing this. Allowing captains to fly in the right seat isn't some long term strategy to prevent them from getting new hires... it's to bandaid the idiotic mistake known as the hiring freeze. Also, captains in the right seat aren't scabs... jfc people are really getting ridiculous.
Second, It is just another form of tweaking pay to incentivize pilots outside of the CBA to pick up and cover more open-time flying.
Third, It is OUTSIDE THE CBA. Why are pilots agreeing to fly outside our collective bargaining agreement? It isn't very collective the second a few of us decided to operate outside of what we all agreed (Including the Company) to operate under.

Company guys volunteering to sit right seat despite what the union said should have their names sent to our friends at UA, DL, and AA.

I don't know why they're agreeing to do it, they shouldn't, it's retarded. What I'm saying is, the company's reason for doing this isn't nefarious and to prevent it from having to attract new hires. The company would like to have pilots on first year F/O pay flying as many right seat hours as possible because it's their cheapest option. There is open time flying because they created a staffing problem with the hiring freeze, a problem that is going to get bad on the right seat side of things in a few months. Right now we are not short F/Os. It is not for right now, they are being proactive for once in their lives. If you're going to be mad about anything being done outside of the CBA focus on the new hire bonus. Be mad that future upgrades will have to be right seat qualified... right now this is a voluntary thing, a stupid thing to volunteer for, but to say anybody who does it is completely undermining the entire pilot group doesn't actually make any sense.
Anything that circumvents the only bargaining leverage we have (The CBA) undermines the entire pilot group.

Oh we will find out. Don’t worry. Word travels fast and it’s a small industry.
Yes please! “MW volunteered.” Can see it now.

Can someone from Compass please PM me? Don't work here, but I have a question I'd rather not ask on an open forum.
(I'll take the first response - so if I don't respond, that means someone else has already responded and answered my question. Thanks)
