Not putting his family down at all, just saying it’s not wise to get advice from mainline about regionals. I too have family at mainline and I never ask them, nor did I ask them, for advice when I first started in the 121 world. So I’m the SoCal BroCal words, relax broseph

Numerous attempts?? I'm hearing you either know it 100% or see ya.....no numerous attempts. What I am saying is that one could go here as prepared as she or he thinks they are and still wash out due to the lack of second chances. You may have a sim partner not up to snuff, you might not have a flow down pat.....seems pretty severe. The goal should be to give people who put forth the effort to get them through. Why would one go to Compass knowing that they are not in teaching mode but rather you should know it cus you had cbt mode. This practice in our industry needs to stop

Sorry guys.... I don't know if my response showed up legibly. I really do appreciate all of the advice I have gotten from you. It has been extremely valuable in my decision to come to Compass instead of QX. I doubt I have had a family member in a Compass jumpseat. Great grandfather retired twa, grandfather retired twa, father retired nwa, lil bro captain at Spirit. I am more than willing.....obsessed even with getting through this training. I hope they can recognize that, and if and when I might. E having issues explain. I am definitely a show and do kind of person.....not a read and do.

Haha wow, you think this ok to say? "Sorry" is better than saving face. I'll leave it alone, though, it's all good. I always appreciate your posts. Just think we should try to be more constructive, helpful, and kind toward each other and our new hires, but he doesn't need me to defend him so I'll stop...

Ok I agree and I’m sorry if it came off wrong but I’m just trying to throw out the advice of who to ask and who not to ask for regional info, that’s all....in other news 2800 JFK files released

Training is not difficult. 3 weeks is enough time to do the CBT stuff and if you take general notes it helps. The first 2 weeks were a fire hose then the rest broken down nicely into lessons that you can easily be thoroughly prepared for. My partner and I spent about 2 hours a day after training (also commuting home on weekends) studying and we made it through clean sweep. He had 135 time and I was a Cessna CFI. Some in our class had issues and a few repeats or failures and they said they were put on training plans and they both succeeded. As long as you're not a jerk and you are actually putting in effort, it's hard to wash out. I'm very surprised the LOE fail rate is high as it's just a relatively routine flight scenario. It was probably one of the easiest sims I had at compass. They prepared us well and gave us a great idea of what to expect.
The only thing I didn't like was the older instructors had major attitudes. If I miss a callout or forget how to do something in the box, how about telling me the reference and correct action, instead of getting red-face upset while telling me I need to improve my morals and study habits as a person. All the younger instructors were cool as could be, but the 50+ year olds were detached from reality.
