Default Segrave Aviation

I was wandering if anybody knows anything about this company such as pay, QOL, etc. I found them yesterday on climbto350.com and saw that they wrote that relocation is not necessary and you will be airlined to jets. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

Segrave have had a fairly poor reputation in general over the years, but apparently there have been some changes in flt ops lately. They have apparently bought out two other operators and are supposedly now commited to delivery of 15 Hawker 1000s retiring from NetJets, with possible 25 more to come (meaning 40 of only 52 1000s produced).

I have a friend who started recently, and I have an interview scheduled. From what I can gather FO pay is mid-upper forties to start, with $45/day domestic per diem, $80/day intl. They offer medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance and a 401k with 25% match up to 6%. All pilots now receive a Blackberry for trip/hotel/airline info.

Schedule is 9 on/5 off with 8/6 supposed to be coming in the future. Pilots are home based and airlined out to the aircraft with all travel being done on "on" days.

I already interviewed with Segrave about 3-4 years ago for a BE400 FO position which I didnt get. I don't know if this is a reflection of changes since then, but last time I interviewed I drove 5 hrs to a 15 min interview that could have been done over the phone. This time I already had a phone interview before being invited. The interviewer was about to tell me that dispatch would set me up with airline arrangements to Kinston, but when he remembered that I was in NC he asked if I minded driving to the interview and being reimbursed for milage. That in itself seems an improvement on last time from my personal experience.

As with anyplace it could look nice from a distance, but look much worse from within, but I'm willing to check out what they have to offer.

It seems that several of the fractional type places I've looked into are more than 7 on and less than 7 off...and Seagrave with 9 on 5 off sounds little raw. That's a long time away for little in return. I'm not sure if this is the case but it might be especially onerous if you are expected have to be jetted there the day prior and somehow miss the home flight. Making it 11-3, a real rout in the ball game score.

How did the interview go? I got a call from these guys too. I sent in a resume from a climbto350 ad. I have been a T-1 IP for 10 years so I guess I was qualified.

Does anyone know if they went to 8-on, 6-off yet, or are they still 9-on, 5-off? Also, how true are they to the off days, and how long is the trining contract (and is it pro-rated monthly???)

I worked for them for 5 yrs, I would not trust the schedule as far as you can throw it. A typical month for me was 20 days gone(in a row), 5 home. Pilots there (myself included) have routinely done 28-30 days a month. If you are willing to stick to your guns it might be ok. GET EVERY DETAIL in writing! If they offer to pay your gas mileage everytime you drive in...GET IT IN WRITING. If they say 8 on 6 off. GET IT IN WRITING! If you have a family or hopes of one, I would highly reccomend you look elsewhere. Like I said, I was there for a long time. Still have a lot of great friends there, but sadly the work environment is bad. They have a tendency to run you into the ground. Not to say I didn't enjoy my time there, and had they given more thought into pilots quality of life I would still be there.

Just met a guy that works for these folks. Didn't have time to talk to him because his pax was ready to go. Anymore information on these guys would be great. He gave me his card and I do intend on calling him to get more information but would like to see what everyone else knows as well. Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I was there for a couple of years. Everything beachbum says is right on except getting it in writing won't help. People are treated worse there than at even the worst commuter airline. You will have NO schedule that you can count on and your scheduled days off mean nothing. Look elsewhere.

I agree with Vone and beachbum. I've heard so many pilots complain while I worked there. They will ask and ask and ask for favors and there is no compensation on the other side. (Ex. I worked the line for a 1 year and 8 months and after a year i got a raise of .25) Pretty much a slap in the face for going out of my way SO many times. But if you can get over being gone all the time and treated as if you don't have a life outside of segrave then you should be fine.

Default Pegasus Elite/Segrave

I read this article, which mentions Pegasus Elite Aviation--the new operation of Segrave. I talked to someone at Segrave about this today, and they are managing both operations out of their Kinston, NC headquarters.

I sent them a resume before I read about their reputation. Does anyone know about how things are going with this new Pegasus outfit?

Have things changed from how they used to be?
