Default CL604 Questions

Hello all,

I flew a client and he had a couple questions about obtaining an aircraft to keep in the US while they do business here. It seems they airline in from down under and would like an aircraft that can go DTW to LAX, and DTW over to London. They really like the CL604 and also desire to charter it to offset their costs. I have no real international experience to say but would like to give it my best 2 cents.

Is the 604 capable of those routes?

Going rate of a 604 per charter hour?

Hanger cost?

Would Falcon 2000 or CL 300, or another... be a better option? Are any of these better to charter in terms of desire or want?

Best MX, dispatch, reliability, support of the suggested aircraft?

Thanks!
Im just a BE400 driver so the big stuff is a little new to me !

DTW-London is about 3250NM Great Circle, probably 3400NM route distance especially if you enter the tracks. That might only be doable going east. Probably not going west with a headwind. London-KTEB wad about as far as I would like to go (3000NM GC). CL300 has less range. Don't know about the Falcon 2000 but heard it might go a bit farther.
The 604 is great and very reliable. Mostly had good experience. Chartered it for about 5500USD/h. Never hangered it

The 604 would easily do it east bound, west would be dependent on winds, but KBGR is a quick customs, fresh air stop. One issue will be can the ProLine 4 avionics be upgraded to CPDLC/ ADS-C ? I haven't heard of the SBs yet.

Good stuff guys I appreciate the information so far...Im sure there is shady international requirements of a/c equipment I have never ran into as well as procedures going to Europe I am unfamiliar with. I know I have seen 604's with different engines (round cowling vs, oblong) as performance issues with one vs the other....I wouldnt have thought the cl300 had less range being way newer!

There are NO different engines, only the GE CF-34s. The long cowls are original 600 with the Lycoming hand grenades.

Because the 600 series are restricted to F410, you'll be on the track system which quickly will require CPDLC and ADS-C. Research this, as it might be an expensive mod and I don't know if Collins offers a retrofit yet. The fleet is big enough, and the 605 has it, that a retrofit should be feasible.

You'll also need training and appropriate LOAs for NAT ops.

The CL 300 wasn't designed to replace the 604/605; it has about 90 minutes less range than a 604 or 605. The performance of 604s and 605s are identical in every way.

I just researched this. As of now, there are no ADS-C/CPDLC upgrades.

The newer Falcon 2000s have similar range to the 604, but much higher acquisition costs. The Falcon may offset more expense in a charter environment due to the much lower operating costs. Either way, I've heard great things about the 604.

We have pro line 4 in our 850 and can confirm that there is no -C/CPDLC and Bombardier says there never will be.

We did have ADS-B installed though...

Is CPDLC now required for the tracks? Last time I did it was 2 years ago with HF.

Not yet entirely, but some tracks/levels are and the NAT region will be well within the life span of 604s.
