By comparison, vaccine-induced memory B cells are less robust, evolving for only a few weeks and never "learning" to protect against variants, researchers reported in a paper published on Thursday in Nature. COVID-19 vaccines do induce more antibodies than the immune system does after a coronavirus infection. But the immune system response to infection appears to outshine its response to vaccines when it comes to memory B cells. Regardless of whether antibodies are induced by infection or vaccine, their levels drop within six months in many people. But memory B cells stand ready to produce new antibodies if the body encounters the virus. Prior to this study, there had been little data on how vaccine-induced B cells compare to infection-induced B cells. The researchers caution that the benefits of stronger memory B cells after infection do not outweigh the risks that come with COVID-19. "While a natural infection may induce maturation of antibodies with broader activity than a vaccine does, a natural infection can also kill you," said study leader Michel Nussenzweig of Rockefeller University, in a statement. "A vaccine won't do that and, in fact, protects against the risk of serious illness or death from infection."
I think most people know those now and I have to believe the majority of the unvaccinated have natural immunity. That is why I don't get the big push for the last 35% to get vaccinated. Or the push for kids to get vaccinated when the vaccine has very questionable benefits and the the virus has virtually no chance of death. We are in negative returns territory as this thing is tearing the country apart and the mandates now look to be worse on the economy than the virus. Hopefully this madness blows over in the next few weeks as the cases plunge but I don't have much faith in the people running the show.

My SWAG... they want as much progress as possible now, by any and all means, so they can lighten up before the midterms. They don't want a covid surge next summer, they don't want economic disruption, and I don't think they want to be pushing mandates hard next year either... they know that will drive a lot of the middle ground away.

They put themselves deep enough in the hole now and they won’t be able to climb out by next November. I mean seriously, what do you do? Try to hire back the people you have just fired? And expect everything to be forgiven?

Do they think they can really ignore the increasing scientific evidence that post infection immunity is CLEARLY SUPERIOR (if riskier to acquire) than COVID vaccine induced immunity and then hope to convince people they are following the science?

Look, COVID is going to cause supply chain problems related to just-in-time logistics that are demonstrably NOT THE FAULT OF CURRENT POLITICIANS, but that’s going to spatter on them anyway. And that won’t be over in a single year. It’s already FUBAR. Getting people pi$$ed off at them by trying to haze the unwilling right now is unlikely to make it easier on them.

What people overlook is that pols are going to reap the benefit of natural immunity regardless of whether they issue immunity passports.. So they may as well try to maximize vaccination which will only improve the stats they worry about.

We'll see. I'm frankly surprised the economy is doing as well as it is now, somehow they made it this far. I was starting to wonder pre-covid if the traditional seven-year economic cycle model had been broken, now I'm convinced (there's probably still a cycle, just don't know what it is yet).

In a related story, both the Peoples Republic of North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran have offered asylum and a job in vaccination free workplace for any nuclear weapons workers fired because of vaccine mandates…

OK, I keed, but relative to their value, these mandates are mainly pi$$ing people off currently. This virus is endemic and present in dozens of animal reservoirs. Time for those of us who believe in vaccines to go get our boosters and then just get on with life.

I personally think the opposite they want to keep the hysteria going for the mid terms so they can justify another extended mail order voting circus!

Members of Congress are not covered by the Executive Order because they don’t fall under the Executive Branch. This is elemental Constitutional law. Anyone buying it doesn’t know,

They didn't exempt themselves, PLEASE try to get basic government facts right. The constitution exempted them.

Uh, their staff are just "federal workers", not Members of Congress. They certainly draw their salaries, medical benefits, retirement packages, many, many perks from the federal coffers.

It may be technically accurate, but it's a distinction without a difference.

Even Members of Congress are subject to innumerable federal laws and regulations, they do not get "diplomatic immunity."

Exempted.

Look, I get it, Brandon doesn't want to pee in their pool, and most of them will vaccinate anyway. So it's a smart move by LGB, and is a tempest in a teapot. But the optics are about what you'd expect.
