Omicron is officially in North America now. Two travelers from Nigeria brought it.
France has 8 tentative cases, still waiting for confirmation.

Who cares.
Turn off the TV. Go outside, get fresh air and Vitamin D. Watch nature instead. You won't be so scared.
Press on.

Let me get this straight:
Omicron is going to be everywhere, if it's not already, and apparently conveys nothing worse than mild flu symptoms. Then you presumably have natural immunity to Covid? (although "natural immunity" isn't going to help big pharma, at all)
How is this not excellent news for the entire planet?

Exactly. What a joke. I was happy to go to the Braves victory parade with my family earlier this month. We rode MARTA to the parade venue and then back to the Doraville station when the parade was over. Great time, and a perfect time take MARTA. As expected we were packed in like a Tokyo subway (it was our first title in more than a quarter century after all!)...and yet we got the entertainment of listening to the canned recording of "please practice six feet social distancing." I'm still waiting for the "super spreader" events from all the 90,000+ college football stadiums that are packed full week after week. Oh wait. Being outside can actually be good for you? Say it ain't so.

Good news is, the South African doctors that identified this strain say the symptoms are extremely mild and I haven't yet heard of any death let alone mass casualties from it. Bad news is, the fear porn merchants in media and government are making this out to be the new Black Death.
The problem that keeps circling back around is hospital capacity... that's what's causing some governments to revert to lockdowns. Politically they must be afraid they'll get thrown out of office, and unlike here, that can happen at any time in the parliamentary system so common in europe. Dying people lined up on sidewalks outside hospitals might not look good in their opponent's political attack ads.
Almost too early to speculate, need more real-world data. The mutations appear potentially problematic but that's just theory... need to see it in practice.

POTUS says it's not a cause for panic. So that's good.
