I’ll ask again,
does the vaccine reduce the severity of Covid?
(If you are going to bother answering, please be an adult and contribute. Thank you)

Yes, of course. Will you answer my question? To be less subtle again (which is much less fun), I am trying to point out that the risk mitigation needs to make sense based on the level of risk from the actual hazard.

It literally prevents severe illness, hospitalization, and death. It also reduces the amount of aerosols emitted from a vaccinated person. Thus if collectively the more ppl vaccinated, the less transmissibility going in between humans.

because comparing Covid to a meteor hitting you is not in the zone of reason. I understand your risk mitigation analogy, but this line of discourse makes me think you aren’t being genuine.

I am being genuine, but will admit to staking out a more extreme example to prove the point. I think you and the proponents of this line of thinking both vastly overestimate/state the true risk of Covid to a healthy youngish individual, as well as the actual effectiveness of mitigation strategies like masks and vaccinations. Not against them per se (you do you), but I draw the line at mandates.

I have no issue with a hospital requiring it’s staff to take a vaccine that will reduce the time in which they are unknowingly transmissible.
Taking a vaccine that has a statistical probability of zero to hurt you, so that you will have less of a chance to kill your compromised patients, kinda sounds like your job if you are in front line medicine.
pilots-no mandate
hospitals- mandate if the hospital admin deems it necessary

Of course they’re not being genuine, as there’s no valid argument for not being vaccinated. ZERO unless you have a medical condition that prevents it. The rest is all fluff and politics. These people are ready to burn down the country, our democracy, and anything else their favorite wacko pundit tells them to do. It’s comical and sad all at the same time.

It makes zero sense to terminate unvaccinated healthcare workers *during a pandemic*, then claim staffing shortages.
That’s a self-inflicted wound by hospital administration and government that has very real downside consequences to patient care far outside of COVID patients alone.
