We briefly had the ability to Presell weeks to the company that was granted as a manning concession. Thankfully we were able to claw that back.

The change we really need to make concerning vacation is making it all pay and credit. The company would need 300 to 400 more Captains overnight.

Thanks for detail.

These are good points, it doesn't do anyone any good, obviously. Can always count on you guys to enlighten and look at these from a different perspective. Thanks for the replies!

If we start selling it back, it guts our argument we need more days, or more value per day.

Vacation is useless at least 1 week a year, FEB does nothing. I say more even distribution, like summer and holidays. I think if sell back is OK then flying over would be OK. I don't promote either. Sell back only benefits the senior people with 4 weeks or more and no immediate family in the house.

We don't allow sell back.

We actually force sell-back of vacation for those on long term leaves (e.g., MLOA)... when many of those pilots would prefer to keep the vacation for use in their returning leave year.

This thread appears every few months. We have a lot of pilots here that don't know what to do with themselves when they have more than a few days off.

That section concerns vacation being cancelled by the company. There is no pilot option to sell vacation.
