Upgrade time will stay low for the foreseeable future with retirements increasing. The wide body FO has little incentive to upgrade for a few more dollars and much more work. To go from a few legs a trip to 5 leg days is an adjustment and there is a decent size group that is not interested. I think things will keep moving until there is a slow down in the economy and then the music will slow.

This drives an additional musing, I wonder if it will be GS city on the M88a like it was on 717b last summer. If so, those guys are in for some fat stacks Mr. White!
I wanna do over if they don't fill the M88A. My bid was based on published rates not GS rates. They didn't offer the option of M88A if X% left unfilled.

I'll wager CR goes trolling for M88As on the August cleanup bid. They will get some takers who are willing to jump in on top of the junior reserve dogs, but didn't take a chance bidding a percentage this time around.

No kidding. Trying to read the tea leaves for where the next GS will be is risky business. You could find yourself on perma-reserve with February vacation (per the Hitler gets awarded the maddog video) and never see a GS if you bid M88A in August. Or you could roll thunder and gross well over a half million dollars before PS next year...

Simple solution is for mgmt to pay m88A at $300/hr.

Express Captain vs NYC Jr forever Captain are 2 different things. Living in Kew gardens covering 3 airports isn't living the dream.

That's the beauty of the New Delta. 14,000 pilots and choices for everyone to be happy. One pilot's trash will be another one's treasure.
No difference to me what the next man bids.

Just stay salty. I was on my IOE in the 73-800 on 9/10/01. I was walking 5th Ave in NYC and thinking how great C2K was gonna be..50 thou a year..buy a lotta beer..then 9/11. Stay grounded, bid what you want..but know the music can stop at any time. JMHO..CG
