We have several confirmed reports of junior M88A bidders getting phone calls. Wouldn't that require a completed AE award? Are we waiting on FltOps/DALPA review and approval before publication? I hope they aren't manipulating the "successful, but FAR unqualified" A bidders before publishing the official results.

I have to give credit where credit is due I actually met and spoke to the most junior Captain. I can tell you he knows his stuff and he busted his butt.
He went through the entire training footprint without a hick up, delay or additional sim.
He was very well prepared. He has done better than some who came off different aircraft or who have been here longer.
That being said, those junior pilots who put in a bid for the 88A and are not on the 88, will have their hands full and the training department won't cut them any slack.
Let's see how this all shakes out.

I have no idea about the pilot and I am sure he is awesome, as are pretty much all the new hires I have flown with, but the fact that Delta Air Lines awarded a mainline Capt position to someone only on property for 4 months is truly unprecedented. How fast are upgrades at UAL, AA or LUV? Are they dealing with this issue?

Our new recruiting tool. No hotels for you, but we'll make you a captain on the MD88. On second thought, that will never work, just more of a deterrent.
The day the category is closed will be the day normalcy is reinstated to the A positions. We are accelerating their retirement now. 30 more 737s just a few days ago...hmmmm.

This makes us very attractive and will ensure we'll have plenty of applicants as the pool gets thinner over the years.
As far as the recent low time upgrades are concerned, they got awarded at 4 months but by the time training is complete, it's a 12 month process. Still not a long time but definitely not a 4 month thing.
