Don't knock it till you try it.

The instructors I spoke to said it took a little getting used to and then it felt natural by day 2. Nothing to fix.

"It only feels weird the first time."

Details matter. C17 was fbw, there were a few scenarios where manual trim made life better.

Here is a small portion of a flight test by one of the most respected test pilots in the industry.

I have yet to fly a jetliner with more docile yet responsive handling qualities. Bombardier uses fly-by-wire to tame untoward aerodynamic, configuration and thrust behaviors rather than isolating pilots from the aircraft. The semi-active sidesticks are a leap forward in situational awareness. The speed-stable control law also helps keep flight crews in the loop, providing a natural feel.

So somebody promoting it, and whitewash the 2.5 year delay due to the fbw, thinks it's great.

I tell the guys I'm teaching on the 320 that it'll take them a little time to get used to the sidestick, like, 2 maybe 3 seconds. And then don't grab the stick too tight and touch it very little and wow, look at that. You're smooth as can be. So maybe 30 seconds total.

They should put in a big trim wheel too...with a handle...so your knees can be in the loop too 😜

Airbus really does not want you touching it at all other than rotation.

I think even the passengers back in first class were in the loop with that thing spinning like a saw blade.
