DAL MEC Expenses (millions)
2009 - $8.5
2010 - $8.7 (+2%)
2011 - $9.5 (+9%)
2012 - $11.3 (+19%)
2013 - $11.1 (-2%)
2014 - $12.8 (+15%)
2015 - $16.8 (+31%)
2016 - $18.1 (+8%)

We're making more and there are a lot more of us. Give them more and they will find a way to spend it. I understand that more people also means more expenses, but I highly doubt they need twice as much today as 5 years ago.

I'm grateful for ALPA and all their services, I just think reasonable oversight needs to be done just like every industry.

Bologna.

FedEx was NOT against lowering of dues.

FedEx WAS against having dues assessed on more components of compensation than other airlines.

DAL and NWA announced the merger on 4/15/08 and got a single operating certificate in 2010. You might want to include the NWA MEC expenditures for an apples to apples, YOY comparison.

There was also PWA2012, PWA2016 and the failed TA in between. Obviously, expenses should return to normal after contract negotiations, but the ROI was pretty good IMO.

Finally, isn't a common complaint about ALPA from pilots at the majors that their dues exceed the money at their MEC's disposal?

Yes. I got mine a few days ago. Realize that the refund covers years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

While I'm pleased to get ANYTHING back from the sucking hole that is ALPA dues, it is time to lower the dues rate. Better than a sharp stick in the eye.

That's not true, I was there. FDX and UAL joined to amend the dues reduction resolution at the BOD in 2014, stripping away the dues reduction from the resolution and substituting some let's continue to study this language. Political pandering to the B carriers.

Thank you. I hope it's not designed to look like spam. That has hosed me in the past!

One of the biggest expenses of any union is flight pay loss.

TOS for 777A on 1/1/2009 was $198.00 and today it's $330.00. A 67% increase. So that alone would justify a substantial increase in expenses. Also consider that in 2015/2016 you had substantial expenses due to TA1 & TA2.
