I've heard that too, as well as leaving it plugged in to another battery makes it act like its constantly getting tiny charges. It doesn't revert to the other battery, but still uses its own battery which then recharges every few minutes, which puts a lot of stress on it over time. Leaving it constantly plugged into the big battery is probably a bad idea.

We are asked to always leave the EFB connected to the backup battery while using it on the flight deck. If that were a major concern, I don’t think they would have written the policy like that.

I know any battery gets bad with age but it's fun looking at this thing drain a 1% every 30 min vs the older surface. But that one day will change, my last iPhone had a pitiful battery life in time. I heard the battery will lose 20% capacity in a year, I've also heard that life of the battery is dependent on charges so small charges are not good. Idk.
But for now this is nice. But if any apple fanboys know the answer (Google search has been too wordy on this) how should we treat these batteries? Drain to 5% before ever charging?

I've had my current iPad for more than 2 years on the line, and it has not had a single hiccup, not even once. Your model, the Pro, is even more robust.

Charge it when you need to charge it. Supposedly the battery’s been designed to be able to be charged 1000 times. So about 3 years if you charge it everyday.
I get about 3 days use before needing to charge the iPad, so basically I charge the iPad once a week in the airplane.

But wait to people stream entire movies on it. (If that's possible)

The main reason I’m aware of is if the work iPad is compromised (which is a long shot), your family account won’t be tied to the device. Call it OCD, but I prefer keeping the accounts separate.
