JFK pilots (or those who live nearby) wish they would expand the JFK 330 base, but CR won't, because it's only the summer when they need the people Also, Crew Resources would like to displace from SEA, but I think Network won't commit to having the airplanes in a specific city for a length of time, so CR can't bet on the displacement lasting.
Got it, thanks guys for the rational non emotive explanation. Cheers

This problem is self induced by a company that likes to fly every aircraft type possible. Based on the company's historical disregard for the PWA and QOL items sought by the pilot group, I'm not interested in solving their problems unless they offer something that would surprise me.

Which always makes us NYC 330 guys wonder why they do it. The DH for ATH’s that is.

So basically if you're a commuter bid a SEA or DTW 330 and then enjoy your free ride to work and back?

They don’t have enough trips that can be used inside out. AMS, CDG, GRU are entirely flown out of base. ATH, LAGOS, TLV and LHR partially. The base was planned for 100 CA. There are only 72 CA’s.

It’s not always like that, only one or two months

I feel your pain. When I was in NYC on the 330 I liked to bid 4 ATH trips a month, it was fantastic. Then before I left a couple years ago they started giving more and more of the ATH flying to DH from other bases it makes ZERO sense. We would lose about 1/2 the ATH lines to other bases. Last month in DTW SEA guys flew almost all of our NGO trips.
Yes I understand flying doesn’t belong to a base. However when some of your best (most efficient) trips are flown by other bases it sucks.

Seattle’s problem is the size of the current international arrivals facility. It can only handle a certain amount of people a day and is way over capacity now. A new facility is under construction now (its gonna be under the A concourse) but it won’t be ready now until sometime in 2020. It was supposed to be summer/fall of 2019. I’ve been told the SEA330 category is supposed to expand with the arrival of the 330NEO. The original timing was for the facility to be done shortly after we began receiving the NEO’s. Since the timing is not quite working out, who knows what’s going to happen. For August there are 61 Captains. By the end of the year I believe there will be 6 more retirements leaving 55 in category.

Obviously I’m hoping the category stays open. I think the training caused by closing it would be seriously daunting to the company at this particular time. I do think we will see an expansion of international seats out of Seattle when the new facility is done. We will see what happens......I had my mandatory displacement bid in on this last AE/MD.

Same. I loved flying ATH and FCO out of NYC. The trips come and go. I remember YEARS ago on the 7ER where the NYC 7ER B flew the Pacific relief lines out of SEA. This happened right after I bid SEA 7ER specifically for the opportunity to fly Asia trips. I would have kept better seniority AND flown more SEA trans pac trips as a NYC FO. Go figure...

Well you predicted no training crash since 2009 and contrary to your own belief you are also part of this Forum when you post.
