Anyway, back to the AE - does anyone know the “real” process? Like does the Chief Pilot office have a day to review the result, followed by the Union leadership having a day, etc.?
The MEC has to be consulted, and if they don't like it then they can pull down AEs and we won't have anymore.

Our profit sharing will be less in February than it was last February. It is and will continue to trend down. The reason why there is more money put aside is because the non-union employees are back on the same plan as us. I’m not sure if we’ll ever see a 21.4 percent profit sharing check again.

The computer doesn't take long to run the results, but the key thing is that the company doesn't have to award all the openings/MD they publish. If the AE as published creates too much training (ie, cost), they can move less people to reduce the training cost. It's a art, and is done manually. Also, I suspect there is some discussion about predicting how many future retirements are going to be early, medical leaves, etc. Also, future training output affects how many people you can displace, vs hiring, etc.

So it's not a fixed "push the button and print the results" like you have with White Slips.

I do think Crew Resource does all that, then presents them to their bosses to go over the training churn, etc. When you have displacements, it's even more complicated.

Is the sky falling?

Black swans everywhere?

Q2 GDP will be close to 4% or higher. The economy is firing on all cylinders and we are just getting warmed up.

Sorry for the good news, but Delta will increases growth and make more profits. 2019 and beyond profit sharing will be far higher. IMO.

It is my understanding that it doesn't matter what the non-union groups use for a profit sharing formula. The could get zero profit sharing or be on the same formula as us and our PS check would be the same.

Projections are for $5B annual profits or more indefinitely. That’s roughly 15% baked in. The MIP awards management if we exceed $6.504B, $7.869B, and $8.794B. (amendments not withstanding) These amounts have steadily increased YOY. Profitability is the goal and its targets are rising.

% of Target Absolute Financial Performance Measure Paid
Threshold/Target/Maximum
50%/100%200%
Required 2018 Pre-Tax Income
$6,504 Million/$7,869 Million/$8,794 Million
Payouts will be straight-line interpolated when Pre-Tax Income results fall above Threshold and below Target or above Target and below Maximum.

“Pre-Tax Income” will be the amount of Pre-Tax Income, if any, determined under the Profit Sharing Program for 2018.

PS is a go/no-go item for me in 2019. Its the only way to keep our hands in the cookie jar. Im curious to see if they go for it again this next round

In regards to profit sharing. I am a little worried. Profit sharing is amazing, I love it and I hope we get it forever. But eventually, it’s going to come down, heck there may be a year within the next 5-10 years were we get zero. I am worried that we as a group have come to rely on it a little bit as part of our pay. That’s why I believe that contract 2019 has to be a really good contract with good work rules, benefits, and good pay, a solid foundation to hopefully continue descent profit sharing checks but be ok if they aren’t as good
I don’t want to have to work harder than I want to just receive a larger profit sharing check in feb. I would rather work less, make more money all year round, spend more time with family, and then celebrate with a little extra in feb.
