Maybe we should approve Roar articles by memrat to keep everyone happy
I agree with Roar articles up for memrat. and a lot more of our business up for memrat. It is obvious that our very few elected officials are human at best, petty more often. In fact, do away with elected reps, and FPL, and lets make every issue our pilot group has a memrat issue. Not judging what you posted Leine, but you almost seem to make memrat seem like a comical issue intended to be an afterthought? I think memrat makes every member relevant to what's going on with our issues. You make memrat sound like an insult? tell me how I'm wrong?

Quote: Jimmy Johnson? Are you serious? The guy got recalled for crying out loud. And for good reason. When it came time to vote on TA2 he voted in favor and after everyone voted says “oh wait, was that vote for the TA?” And then says he meant to vote no for that. The most important vote he would cast during his term and he didn’t even know what he was voting for?? Unacceptable. Plus the fact that he voted no to not even let the pilots decide if it was good enough (which we know by the 82% in favor it was). Did you guys read the first email he sent announcing his intention to run again? Chock full of spelling and grammatical errors. He doesn’t need to be a Rhodes Scholar, but complete lack of attention to detail is concerning.
Agreed about Jimmy... not exactly a stellar field.

LOL

Yep I was being sarcastic. You caught it*

It’s not an insult, but it does need to be kept in check. It’s a fine line between every pilot having a constant say, and a top-down representational system. I think we have a fairly good balance right now, policy wise. The rubber meets the road with the pilots that we trust to sit in those seats.

IMO far too few pilots participate in the LEC elections, which are arguably the most important union duties most of us will ever perform.

And to circle back to memrat, the MEC is pushing for us to memrat all LOA’s, yet they are currently debating killing an LOA without memrat. So theoretically we could approve an LOA (SILs) via memrat, and then the mec could pull it down if they think they know better.

Not saying it’s right or wrong, just food for thought. There is no perfect system.

It’s vitally important that the 44 pilots participate in this round of elections. ATL is the 600lb gorilla on the MEC and they will have tremendous influence in the direction C2019 takes.

* forum humor is sometimes lost in the ether. No offense intended I think we’re more aligned than not. Would love to discuss over a beer or 3 someday

Understatement of the year

Didn’t realize FTB had gone to the dark side.

And yep, you better come up with a good excuse. Just imagine the fun you could have dealing with this circus for the next 3 years

Agreed. I heard JJ talking to a buddy in the lounge one day during TA2. I walked away thinking, there is nothing this guy would vote yes to.....ever. He’s off the reservation.

But hey, unlike any of the labor groups, experts, attorneys etc before him, he has read the charter of the NMB and knows what they think and how they will mediate going forward.

I hate we had to wait this long to figure it out.

Exactly. He's a strong representation of the Angry 18%. They have infiltrated the MEC and by the looks of who's running, set to become even stronger.

We’re in trouble. I’m probably not even going to turn in my nomination ballot. Probably won’t vote either. Not because I don’t want to, but because there aren’t any pilots running that I can vote on in good faith.

I hear ya. It’s disheartening to see the same old show on repeat, but we have to participate.

I’m still hoping some better options will materialize. At this point it’s a choice of least worst.
