So no, you weren’t a Delta Pilot at that time but you sure know exactly what the ONLY thing going thru our minds, screw the regional guy above all else. Gee that was sure going thru my mind as the first thing I thought of.......
Wow. Take the first word in your last sentence and look in the mirror.

We all also have to talk to generalities or not at all. Only the snow flakes among us need take barbs too personally. Life is short!

This is not an old versus young war. Old guys, you’re not getting restoration. To the 900+ pilots that James Bond is trying to use to ruffle feathers, my opinion is that there is 14,500+ of us. We are operating right now under a decent PWA with good pay rates and many areas where we need to improve quality of life. That may take time, and if it does so be it. I think many of us want this done right and not just done.
Cut it out with the Old vs. Young argument. It’s becoming exhausting to read in every thread. To you 900+ retiring in the next two years, I think the other 13,500+ of us all want the best for you. What needs to be understood is that 13,500+ of us are not going to rush to a deal in order to line your pockets before you retire.
Investor day key takeaway: we made $5bil + for the fifth year in a row. The company is looking to increase efficiencies and they are doing it. We also need to look to increase our efficiencies (QOL). These two things should move together in parallel.

Outside observer. I wasn't here or there; I was in the military. From my POV, everyone has a point and I think it behooves everyone to remember that fact. There were and are some boogymen, but most were and are generally doing what's best for themselves and their families. Organized labor is what keeps us from completely cannibalizing each other or being consumed by the .1%ers of the world; I hope we stay strong.

Every pilot takes in to consideration their own history and perspective. To generalize and condemn a large group for the way things went down in the past when not even a part of the group is not the way to build unity. And we will NEED unity if we are going to achieve any significant improvements.

The RJ influx changed how new pilots earned their time. Instead of flying checks all night and instructing pilots could jump into a jet. The economy is what drove career stagnation’s.

The problem is many of the opinions are devoid of facts. I would like to see the posters actually provide details of the claimed scope sale as a example. Scope was not sold in the 01 contract as the rates were derived directly from the 777, 767-400 and 737NG negotiations years prior. The claim that scope was not sold under duress is also false. The single biggest scope give back was LOA 46 signed with the company standing on the courthouse steps with bankruptcy paperwork in hand.

Wow. The old you weren’t there thread has now turned into giving up scope screwed me into working for food stamps... ygtbsm dude. Where are you? I’ll call you a whambulance. I don’t really care about your regional days. We all sacrificed somewhere. More for some than others. Some not so much. But guess what snowflake? It’s not a fair world and I could give a crap about your sacrifice. There are some out there who lost all that flying (as in furloughed) for many years while you dropped your pants and bent over for food stamps and flew those routes that were furloughed flying. I don’t hold that against you. It was life and back then some of us had to be creative to keep the mortgage paid. That’s life skippy.
The pensions and work rules and such weren’t given up... they were taken. You’d have done the same Ghandi. Don’t act any differently.
Now we can try to get it back. DalAlpa isn’t trying to bring the DB back comrade. But alternatives that will help shelter income and get us more in retirement. As you may not have experienced yet, when someone starts making a boatload of money the taxman takes a bigger share. So as we... that’s us snowflake... start to benefit from big retirements and quickly move into these big money positions, hopefully Alpa has given us a better vehicle to protect more of our income.
The Redtails and (from what I’ve heard) Delta South guys did what they had to do... and while taking up to a 48% cut and losing the pension, I’d like to point out they still offered free medical to any and all of the furloughed guys (who needed it) for the duration... would you have done the same? Only you know cupcake.
I am thankful where I work. Who I work for and I always thank a Redtail guy for offering that to me.
Maybe you should study up a tad and stop making bull comments about these guys rolling over and giving up the farm. It’s because of our sacrifices then that you have the grace of working for the world’s best airline. Delta Air Lines.

You don't care about my time making food stamp wages? Well listen snowflake, no one cares that you took a 50% pay cut that still had you making 6-figures. There are millions of people during that time frame that lost EVERYTHING. I don't feel bad for you.
