I don't think any of us younger pilots are worried about the market. We've all seen this before and have plenty of time to recover. Going for retirement is a losing strategy for everyone. Younger guys will hold out until enough older guys will retire, then we'll screw you with the signing bonus out of spite. It is in everyone's best interest to get a new contract with raises as soon as possible and stop with the retirement money grab.

Money grab. How do you feel about a scope sale? |

I assume you believe the senior guys did the wrong thing since you now don’t want to try and provide even retirements. |

What did you think about the older guys electing to distribute the note money with a plus up to 205K FAE and a length of service minimum for junior pilots instead of the original plan of replacing on a direct percentage basis what pilots had earned and accrued in the DB plan. What did you think about targeting the DC plan to pay the junior pilots vastly higher amounts than the senior guys who often got 0 while the DB was frozen. The theory was it was that it was the right thing to do to insure all pilots had a roughly equal retirement.

First of all........Merry Christmas!!!!
Now, to throw gasoline on the Retirement fire (debate)............:) How are you youngun's feelin' about your 401k/5 million dollar DC retirement after the last couple of weeks on Wall Street!?! Any reconsideration for the merits of some sort of DB going on? Might as well start a free for all on Christmas Day!!!:p Denny https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/042415/what-average-annual-return-sp-500.asp 9.8% average return over the life of the S&P which is one of my larger investments. I will take an average 9.8% return with the money in my own name (and the option to keep it in the S&P after I am retired if there is another correction) versus ANY DB PLAN THAT CAN BE TAKEN FROM ME BY THE BANKRUPTCY COURTS. So all in all, still not interested in a DB plan. I am however very interested in the company fully funding our DC!! This is not a dumb generation. We all just learned a great lesson unfortunately at some people’s expense, but I believe we are smart enough to avoid that mistake again. Back to your egg nog..... |

Good news is that every month a small percentage of people who COULD share your mentality leave. And slowly but surely you’re becoming more and more out numbered. I am excited to see every new hire class come through the door, cause that’s 40-50 votes to offset that mentality.
