I'm sure there will be some voluntary movers, but it won't be a massive voluntary migration IMO. I think there will be quite a few MDs.

I'm kind of in limbo a 100 from the bottom. Its a coin flip if I get MDd or not (although I'm leaning towards it being more likely than not). Its not real advantageous to move voluntarily unless the seniority gain is quite large (unlikely) because I might otherwise get MDd. Going to training, getting seat locked, and taking a pay cut isn't terribly attractive to me. I'm unlikely to hold the 737 (let alone with any seniority) unless there are a ton of spots and backfills. Personally, not interested in the 320.

Just my opinion from where I sit.
I’m in almost the exact same position. I’m curious to see (as is everyone else I’m sure) how many A positions are opened in ATL. That and how the 470ish guys senior to me bid will determine my fate. I’m not chasing an A position to another base, so if I can’t stay where I am, I’ll MD to any other NB A in ATL or B on the ER.

Till I come up with a better plan.

Quote: Care to define what an “out of seniority A” is? I was under the impression that if you can hold what you bid, you ARE senior enough, right?
Everyone knows what that means. No one is saying its a contractual violation or anything. I even put it in quotes yet its still fashionable to cry foul about it.

Obviously I meant very junior A positions that only occur because of a relatively undesireable category (especially at the junior portion), usually in conjunction with a period of relative upward mobility that causes some of those junior positions to go WAY below what a stovepiped model would traditionally be, only because of a vast amount of pilots bypassing those positions.

Those pilots in that position in the ATL M88A category may have to pick the ATL 717A category if they want a chance to remain an ATL Captain for the near term. But other than them, and other than the bottom tier of FO's, I don't see the majority of those displaced sliding to the ATL 717 when you consider that a mandatory displacement is a pretty good deal.

Also of note is that its likely that some who actually take that path will bail in under even the 9 month freeze an AE would bring (future AE's dependant of course) because of no freeze because of the displacement anyway.

Quote: Hmmmmmm. So, if some 717As get displaced on this MOAB and they can’t hold any other xxA in ATL, are they “Out of seniority 717As” ??
LOL right. Just like for a while almost the entire list could (and often did) say "I can hold Captain" even though it was only in theory after the fact and they couldn't get it again on a subsequent bid.

What was the seniority # of the junior captain awarded in ATL on the last 2 AEs? I’m sure a lot of #8000 guys could have held captain in ATL on previous bids, but now they can’t and who knows when they will be able to again.

I just not sure why people continue to single out junior 88A guys as “out of seniority”.......

Any 7ER Bs that went to the 330B that wanna share about it?
I.e. is a hit in seniority worth better trips or not, more dollars an hour really worth it for the seniority, that sort of thing.

I’m sure the answers you get will depend on what your seniority is😎

The junior 88A is 11,100 and the junior 717A is 10,400.

Correct terminology would probably be something like unusual seniority. As in, it is unusual to be a captain at delta after 4 months.
