So as the 88 pilots who take other categories (as they should have been able to in the first run) will that then change any of the already awarded slots for others? Or will they just carry some small and temporary overages? If someone is "bumped" from an award from this AE, will they then be displaced, or will it simply be undone?
There might be an argument to re-run it if a junior pilot who was awarded an AE had a qualifier that would now not be satisfied when more senior pilots who were affected by the IT glitch come in above them. However, I'm thinking that could be handled on a one-by-one basis as those #s are probably quite small. |
The consistency of oopses makes me think contract compliance isn’t even on the radar, forget about it as a management concern. The culture is to just get “it” done no matter what “it” is. We are making more money than ever before so we must be doing it right. It’s so much easier (and cheaper with our toothless PWA and the RLA) to beg forgiveness than ask permission. Get on board man, because... profits and... sharing.
If any of this was at all concerning to management, they’d have an accountant studying the problem already. |
So if they don’t rerun the bid, couldn’t folks junior to them be affected if they bid a plane at seniority XX% and the system wasn’t looking at these “locked” guys and now they pile in on top without recourse? That’s part of the problem I see.

For anyone interested in SLC info...
38 220B (first officers) were awarded SLC. Pilots hired in the last few months got it. The most junior 220A (captain) in SLC was a September 2014 hire. |
Color me confused. Here’s my situation. M88B, was awarded SLC 73NB on the MOAB. It gets cancelled. I have no seat lock. Ok fine, I can AE now.
SLC 73NB vacancies are posted, yay! I bid for SLC 73NB. I don’t get it. 10 guys junior to me get reinstated? Now I have a seat lock again. Huh? Isn’t having my SLC 73NB cancelled tantamount to an MD from the category? WTF? I knew I was going to spend at least a year on the 88 going into this, but the inability to get off it while junior guys are getting into bases I want is becoming extremely annoying. There’s doing my time, and there’s getting jerked around. |

i get your frustration, but your MD was canceled and reinstatements take priority over an AE.

That’s what this whole snafu has been about, the system putting the seat locks back on. I would email CR about it, they should take it off. Also let Contract Admin know.

Agreed, but I don't think that changes anything in this case. It sounds like PNWProdigal had an AE rescinded. While there should be no seat lock, that also does not qualify you for reinstatement rights. He/she didn't get SLC73N B because all of the slots were taken by reinstatements and rightly so under the PWA. A complete bummer for someone trying to get to SLC for sure.

I get that, and I agree. I think/thought his gripe is/was that his seat lock was subsequently restored. That's what Icrew did for me, before the award it showed no seat lock and after the {mis]award it showed a seat lock, incorrectly. He couldn't hold SLC73NB but he also shouldn't have a seat lock, and he does...at least that's my understanding.
I understand that what has happened is fully in line with the contract. However, I can hold SLC 73N B. I would not have been subject to the May displacement. Because they displaced and then added in back to back AEs, my seniority doesn’t mean anything because junior guys fall under reinstatement rules now. Legal yes, still some shady ****. Here’s to Nov/Dec I guess. |

Correct. My gripe is two fold. Seat lock is back (I’ve emailed CR) and because they displaced on the May AE then added on the September AE, their poor planning is circumventing my seniority.

How long does it usually take for the training schedule to come out?

CR sent me a terse email asking why I was complaining, my seat lock had already been removed... correct, when you replied 10 days later it had in fact already been removed. Thanks. At least I’ll start having new hires trickle in under me again! |
So how long does it usually take for the training projections to come out? For the May AE it was only two weeks and now we're up to three weeks on this one.

So with that mentality you're saying that we should just always settle for what we have and not strive to make anything better? |

I know you're joking, but this is always the response here when someone points out something good about another airline. "Go fly for Southwest then!"
So with that mentality you're saying that we should just always settle for what we have and not strive to make anything better? No we should strive for better...I just feel the need to give it to Mr. “AE is out.” |

Don’t waste your time or expect that training sked to be accurate. Last two moves I’ve made on AE’s it wasn’t even close. Just see who’s going and then run seniority out vs months. That’ll be way more accurate.
