I see this as good news. I'm not an expert, but it sounds like the -900s aren't capable of our 777 missions even the PIPs. Hopefully this means more 777s or 787-10s in the near-ish future.

agree, if true i think it cements the 777-200LRs will stick around, which one would think means the 777 will stay period.

Aside from the “if it ain’t Boeing, I ain’t going” argument, what’s the plus of more 777/ some 787 vs more 350? Last I checked, 787 pays less so wouldn’t we want more of what we already have at the top rate?

Yes, we want them at mainline. Mainline used to have aircraft smaller than that. No, it does not make financial sense for us to say "just let someone else fly them." Higher paid pilots might change the costing equation for what routes make sense to fly with a 76 seater, but it doesn't mean that we should say "oh then we shouldn't fly them then."
We could use that same logic on every aircraft type "well if we let someone else fly it for less, the company will make more money so we might as well.."

I'm very interested in your forthcoming explanation on how long ago that might have been and of what lineage. I've been here a little more than a few weeks and have never seen any a/c of that caliber here at Delta
OBTW....did you get you question about GS and the auto escalator regarding manning per the contract answered to your satisfaction?
THX for the contract ref Denny Crane!!!!!

The difference is so small who cares and keep in mind if 787’s come they will be mostly 767 replacements which is a big raise.

So we are back to Delta doesnt want 350s after acquiring 14 more 350s?
As to the 350s, what if they order the ULR variant that Singapore currently uses for the 18 hour flights? Or the 1000ULR that Qantas is looking at for Sidney to New York and London?
Seems pretty easy to use a variant of a plane already on property?

A 787 pays the same as a 330-900 and a few dollars more than a 330-200. Somehow we hear complaints about the 330 not being at the top of the scale, but at the same time a 787 is worth the lower rate? I’ll bite on the improvement over 767 but the post I quoted was only about having less 350 and more Boeing’s.
