LAX too. AE had 12 openings and this AE was net +1 (6 in, 5 out), so 11 newhire slots for LAX320B. Not really surprising with how bad the bid package has been so far in the category.

When you got hired LAX was a smaller base comprised mostly of locals. The expansion of LAX is changing that dynamic. The high cost of living and the requirement to cover multiple airports makes LAX comparable to NYC. Hotel and crash pad costs are a little lower than NYC, but the transportation between airports is worse.

When you look at the NB bid packs it becomes evident why pilots are avoiding the 320 and 737. Look at the redeye departure % report by base/AC. The gradual erosion of 7ER international trips created by the growth of the 330 makes that category less desirable. The 777 is the one exception with respect to commutable trips, but constant rumors of downsizing or closing LAX 777 keep some from bidding that category.

LAX is a good base for locals, but anything other than 777 is a headache for commuters.

I would TODAY be = 787A in IAH...which is a better place to live than Peach Tree City. I could not bid 320A previously because I was under an equipment lock...and the NWA crew bases sucked too= SNOW TOWN - MOTOWN- and NOTOWN only good ones were HNL and SEA which were 3 digit
If NWA merged with CAL, the bases would have added EWR, CLE, IAH, and Guam. With the other options being DTW, MEM, or MSP, I doubt you would hold IAH WB A as senior as that would have gone. IAH is only junior because DEN was a closed CAL base that became available for a bunch of senior CAL pilots through United.

Sorry you didn’t get 320, maybe the next MOAB.

And then maybe if they then merged with NASA and displaced the astronauts out by date of hire you could’ve held the Space Shuttle before that fleet got parked!

Not withstanding the fact that mergers haven't gone DOH for nearly 30 years...

I missed 320 A by 4000 numbers. That's the only stat that matters. So what if the most junior 320 A in ATL is only 100 numbers senior to me? That doesn't mean anything when bidding on AE's.

So, what matters is that you can get what you want when and where you want it? The system seems fair to me. Reality not meeting your expectations is more of a personal problem than a systemic one.

Previous bid you missed it by 5000. Plug holding it on that bid was the same as 350A.

Apparently ATL320A is a wide body now??

These things will correct, and the primary issue is the proximity of the stragglers on the 88.
