My hunch is the mean longevity year is also dropping on our pay scales, at least for narrow-body fos.
Not to mention a 30 year pilot has 5 weeks of vacation and a ton of sick time. A new hire has absolutely nothing. That in itself is a productivity gain.

Just a singular point of reference, but from indoc to completion of IOE was less than 8 weeks for me. I know my schedule was quick though.

Similar, 8 weeks and a couple days.

Correct. And all those 1st-year green slips don't cost much more than more senior pilots' straight time.

Yeah it will. It’ll be fun watching a bunch of American workers getting laid off...

CAN it be done in two months? Yes

Do I think it will be all signed/sealed/delivered by then? No

My study of contracts has shown me that while sometimes contracts are agreed upon early (DAL CK12) other times they are after the amendable date (NW 1996-1998, DAL 2000-2001).

While I agree it's not all going to be wrapped up by end of this year, I just don't see it going into 2021/2022 like some others.
Even though this is a pilots market, the company is still in a win win position. Between AA, United, Delta and all the LCC. Coming from regionals, part 135, even military and going to a LCC or Major is a step forward in a regional or recently retired military pilot. These companies know at least 99% of regional pilots want to go to major and whats the point of rushing into a better contract? The current contract is far better than any regional out there.

I suppose the only reason Delta may want to get one done is, they prefer the Tier 1 candidates. So I guess I dont really know??

- NWA back in late 90's had an amendable date in Oct 96....they got new contract in Sept 98

- DAL early 2000's: amendable date May 2000, new contract Jun 2001

- I think we all know how the TA1/TA2 worked out.
I'm echoing the "on time, on target" rhetoric of a previous MEC. The company has no on time metric. This is all in jest hence the "previously" statement.

Think we have to be careful who's opinion we consider to be "management." Flight Operations management prefers "Tier 1" or whatever the flavor of the day is, but I doubt network management cares. Think there are different perspectives. Fortunately, for the most part Delta's Flight Ops management is in tune with the pilot group.
