With the PB day feature you'll fly less than if you didn't fly GS at all, and enjoy more money and more time off. The company rarely is able to tweak things so perfectly that reserves are always flying up to ALV+15 (which in most guy's minds means a category is understaffed) but also avoid paying out green slips.

I can't emphasize this enough: a reserve green slip, with its payback day feature, is a powerful thing not only for pay but quality of life (unlike a regular line GS which requires you to truly fly on your off days).
Great stuff here, things to consider...thanks, somethings I hadnt thought about. cheers

civilian guy not at delta but this raises a few questions:
1) is this a military policy or delta? if military ignore the next 2 questions
2) does this policy apply to any outside work or just Mil duty? if i work a 2nd job as a bartender ( just a stupid example) would i be prohibited from working that job too?
3) how is this legal? i can see saying no outside work BEFORE you sign in for a trip ( dont spend a day in the reserves then show up to fly a redeye) but what is it their business what you do after a trip releases?

3) how is this legal? It's not. And there's a USERRA lawsuit against Delta currently in process.
