This sounds fake. Reroute protections for reserve are identical to line holders. And if they were routed an additional 4 days, they would get a big pay day. My guess is they ended the trip and gave him a 4 day right after during on-call.

I assure you, it happened. you really need to read your PWA, because RES have far less protections than line holders. Try reading PWA 23.L.9.

nope, he GS'd over on call days so he got 0 payback days, but the first day paid above guarantee.

.

Your original post was a bit misleading. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you weren't intentionally so. You stated "they were rerouted because they were GOING INTO (emphasis added) on call days." What you should have said was "they were extended because they had additional on call days remaining in the block of days, beyond the footprint of the original trip assignment, which was also awarded during on call days."

Now that we know "the rest of the story" I really don't see a problem. The pilot in question was assigned a trip over on call days and was extended into further on call days beyond the original trip assignment. Happens all the time, and is not unusual at all. That's part of the reserve gig. Anyone on reserve given a trip assignment needs to at least consider that he or she could be extended, if there were more on call days remaining.

The fact that this guy flew a GS is irrelevant to this discussion....other than the fact he may have opened himself up MORE to the company by volunteering for the GS in the first place. After all, absent that he couldn't have been assigned the original trip at all. (However he did get premium pay for the first duty period, as described, and in any case it was his decision to make).

[QUOTE=Trip7;2939546]Just read the latest Crew Resources Monthly Newsletter and unless the MEC is looking to assist Flight Ops in finding additional simulators nothing will stop the onslaught on Greenslips on the 330 and 320 next year

How would the MEC assist flight ops in finding additional simulators? That is not the job of the union.

Rule number one of reserve: Always pack enough underwear for your entire amount of on call days! Or bring quarters for laundry.

Does anyone here know how many pilots are going to be produced per year in the propel program?

I know scheduling is proactive with this, but technically your payback days are not earned until you block in.

Shoot. I've been doing it wrong. I thought rule 1 was make sure your recreational gear (fishing, skis, bikes, golf clubs etc.) was in optimal shape and readily available.
