I’d be happy to see a BOS base. Fewer mid trip redeyes and 5am shows.

I’m hoping it’s not soon bc BOS is a great layover and lots of that will go away with a base. From a seniority standpoint though it would be good to have the New Englanders leave NYC.

Do you all anticipate a 320 base over 737?

yes. I think the company has stated it will be a 320 base first, with more aircraft added later

Adding a couple 320 bases in MCO, MIA/FLL, or AUS/SAT would be wise on the company’s part for pilot recruitment. Most highly qualified applicants have their pick of any major airline right now. Basing becomes the #1 deciding factor for most of them.

How do you all see a BOS 320/330 base shaking up the seniority in the other bases? NY becomes ridiculously Jr in both seats? How about the other bases?

AUS/SAT is definitely a pipe dream at this point; we have all but given up on even making AUS a focus city anymore after AA has swooped in and eaten our lunch there. It would have been great but I just dont see it happening. Look how long its taking BOS to open after we have actually declared it a hub and followed through with a lot of growth. AUS is basically just served from the hubs and at this point I doubt we have the necessary capacity to try and compete with AA there or WN for that matter.
That said, I don’t think smaller 320 bases in non-hub cities with significant amounts of service would be completely unviable, particularly as our NB fleets consolidate. Crew resources has alluded to it before. I don’t know that we’ll ever see it with our current management team though. |

This is certainly my hope, being a native NYer; BOS would for sure pull a lot of senior pilots from NYC who live in the New England area. At only 5.5 yrs I can hold left seat on everything in NYC up through 7ER; 764 (I hate saying 765) and 330 remain super senior. Im anxious to see how BOS opening would change the seniority dynamic for NYC.
