Delta To Furlough?
#751
There seems to be a panic underlying people’s posts. I realize we are not in control of the situation right now and it has become very unfamiliar. People at Delta who take the same pride in their work are doing the jobs they need to do. The priority right now is not communicating, it’s on redoing their last two weeks of work to meet a new timeline. Be patient, new hires getting information about perhaps the biggest career move they will ever make is fine and appropriate and comes from a different source than the information we seek right now.

Just FYI:
For in-flight we have a little over 5,100 (out of about 25,000 F/As) taking a 1 month voluntary leave for April (they're looking for many more) so far and the latest from management is that we're looking at average line values around 70 hours for April. New bid package should be posted tomorrow.

If true, that is impressive.

How does a normal furlough work for those out on short or long term disability? Does it just stop right away or do they keep getting paid? Someone told me the other day that several of the million dollar folks were on disability now!

Its not as if they'd just do it to screw the People's Worker Class to get more thousand dollar bills to light their cigars with at their private island 100 year old Scotch sipping parties.
If they did what you are referring to, it would, by the very definition of what you're referring to in the first place, be done to avoid FA furloughs. You would therefore be saying you need a union primarily so the company is forced by contract to chop off thousands from the bottom instead.
To be fair, we'll see what the pilot union does. I'm very cautiously optimistic about it, but its too early to know obviously. I'd much prefer 40-50 hours lines to avoid (or at least mitigate) furloughs. If we don't do so IMO that's wrong, and if the non union FA management does the right thing (if ony on this one issue) that would be extremely embarassing for ALPA.
