IMSAFE is for whether you should fly or not. Not whether you should call out sick.

The “I” is illness, or Sick. Sick leave is for sick.

”Stressed out” doesn’t mean you get to blow a sick day, or “personal day”, it means call your chief pilot.

”Fatigue” doesn’t mean use a sick call. It means call fatigue or unfit for duty.

I second this. No one is going to make you fly if the FAA says you shouldn't. What we're discussing is if Delta is going to pay you for the work you left to someone else...or not.

We can all make the decision ourselves, and I can't confirm or deny if I've ever used sick time in a manner or for a duration that Ed himself would not be proud. But if I did, I would own it and call my own spade a spade. Then again, I'm not a lawyer so I don't have that skill set to lie to myself about what contractual language really says.

You're awesome and your sister is awesome. It has nothing to do with you or her. 80% of the people see political correctness as a problem. Because it is stifling. I respect you, but I believe that we should all have access to every word you find in the dictionary.

When we start making exceptions for everyone that is offended (or wants to use feigned offense to repress), we will lose it altogether.

Peace to you, but the freedom to say what you want should almost always trump any offense of an individual. If we don't, eventually, you will also be de-platformed from the things you want to say.

Eh...if I should not fly, I can not go to work. Use sick leave and stay home, that's what it's there for. Promise I would never use it for alcohol though :D.

I generally agree with you. It’s not the word itself but the context it is used. My point was that to make the blanket statement that it is OK to use the word is not acceptable. I can’t count on my fingers and toes how many times I had to come to her defense as children to protect her from verbal, physical and at times sexual abuse. As you can tell maybe it hits too close to home for me to be subjective. Fly safe. Keep you and your family healthy and safe. These are difficult times for all !

You're cool and I'm glad you brought it up. I know I'm responsible for the words I use and hope I work towards offending less people. Same to you in regards to the welfare of you and yours.

I cannot believe how many management trolls must be on here. It's like reading one of those Skynet threads where every comment is another person falling over themself to praise the lord for Delta management. It's really so sad. Delta doesn't care what happens to you. They have PROVED that with their lack of interest in providing crews with ANY protective measures. No wipes, no sanitizer, no cockpit cleaning, no masks for deadheads, no food on layovers... and on and on. They will wait until you die and then send out an email (or most likely not) about what a "servant leader" you were and use it as an example of how everyone else should report to work. Take care of yourself, because THEY will for sure NOT.
