Unfilled spots are only available if nobody bids for them in an AE. If the company decides not to fill them then they no longer exist. The only way to generate spots for a una pilot is to run a new AE.

I would think that they will have UNA pilots bid on an AE to get their spots, and furloughed pilots are covered elsewhere as entry level pilots.
That path may not be explicitly stated in the pwa but seems to be something that an arbitrator would be on board with. Surely would lead to a grievance.

According to BS’s email, there will be 900 unfilled spots on this AE in order to manage training volume. Even though they won’t be awarded, it sounds like they do exist, they’re just not available to pilots right now. Perhaps on the next AE, whenever that may be.

Right. What I’m saying is that after they chose not to fill them, the spots go away. It’s like the never were offered. To create those 900 spots there would have to be a new AE with the spots offered to everyone.
22.E.10., the only way spots can be filled outside of the ae process is with entry level pilots assigned to vacancies that “no pilot bid on”

Good question. It’s a system not set up for what we are doing now. Some people would take the seat lock to get the pay. Some would wait it out to avoid the seat lock.

Seat lock could be kind of key if this all rolls back in next summer. Folks with the lock could be stuck while those who MD'd have complete flexibility (as long as they are willing to train.)

22.E.11:
“Prior to transferring unassigned pilots, the Company will proffer transfer opportunities to such pilots in seniority order. Assignments that remain unfilled after such proffers will be filled in inverse seniority order. “
Sounds like the Co. decides what to offer, à la a newhire drop and seems like it bypasses the AE process.
