Fair enough. Back to the discussion - I just don’t believe ALV reductions would help much of anything for pilots, save jobs in the end, be enforceable, or make a substantive difference. The MEC has negotiated reductions, the company accepted and chose not to implement purely for optics. I’m effectively on a 72hr SIL right now because the 55 wasn’t available. Probably in a lower paying category soon enough, but still 72 hrs paying more than 55 in my soon to be previous category.

i will say if there were guaranteed no displacements I’d be game, but there is no discussion of that and some pilots would see much larger pay hits than others.

Exactly! If we wrote a LOA with furlough restriction without a FM clause it would not apply. If the company did violate it the LOA would no longer be in effect regardless. Just say what you really mean. “I am not willing to take a 20% pay cut to avoid others taking a 100% cut”.

Not to sound like the bad guy, because I have a good amount of time left to try and recoup if we decide to take a 20% paycut, but I have a good many friends here that went through a pretty significant amount of time on furlough during the beginning of their career and as a bonus miss out on the best in industry C2K rates in the process then come back to a BK and the associated fun stuff that goes along with it. So now they are in their last 2-3 years of their career and you want them to take one for the team on the way out also? Tell me, because I know your approx seniority, did you go through the same? I don't want anyone to take a pay cut but I also don't want to be digging out of a hole for the next 15 years again.

Nothing, they will do it anyway.

History shows us we think we are helping the company but in reality end we up being furloughed with even less money.

This is the first bite of the apple..
we are “partners” or “leaders”.

Play up Pilot egos then come take more money.

What’s next? Order new jets if only we give some relief?

same broken record for 20+ years

Alpa offered real ideas to save money and the company was more interested in optics.

I’m still on the full pay to the last day boat. Especially when “full pay” is going to be significantly less after this MOAD. For full transparency, I think I’m ok furlough wise, but while I might not be the B plug somewhere, I sure will share a lot of RES holidays with him!

I am in my last 3 years. If a pilot in his last 3 can’t survive with a 20% ALV reduction he has managed his financial affairs poorly.

It’s all about make the underwhelming retirement attractive enough to get guys to bid it. IMO
