Flown both and the main thing I like about the 73 world is that generally everyone wears a headset on both ears and speaks at a gentlemanly volume with the hot mike, whereas in the 717 everyone uses the “ear off” method and screams at each other, thus negating the quieter cockpit.
also the trips are better

I have probably 6500 hours on the 737 in both seats and maybe 1500 on the 717. Hands down the 717 is a better plane for me. Maybe I’m just sick of the 73, maybe because I was flying the 717 out of LAX (best flying I’ve ever done at this or any airline I’ve worked for) but I really liked that plane and would still be on it if Delta hadn’t closed the LAX 717 category.
Both airplanes have their pluses and minuses but the 717 was genuinely fun to fly. And Mr. Douglas didn’t put a sharp piece of metal everywhere you want to put your foot or shin like Boeing did.

Out west we call the 73 the "Sarah Palin" just like "lipstick on a pig...."
often refer to the 717 as the "kick dog"
atleast we dont have the "rosie O donnell" the A380
I often thought the 777 was more like an "Anna Nicole Smith"
But my all time fav hands down!! the "Pam Anderson" the 75.... Skinny Body, nice tail, big engines..... will do anything for ya..
ooops I should not type during "Happy Hour"
