Always liked the S2000. The one in the video was the original owner. He had put a turbo on it. Claimed it dynoed 415hp at the wheels. Even with that I was coasting

I'm going to leave the Miata arguments alone, as I've never driven one....
...but Lotus! I bought a '73 Europa JPS in 1979. Owned it until USAA figured out how risky that car/driver combination was to them.
My premiums were unsustainable.
The Europa was an amazing car. I used to sling it up and down Highway 1 in California with a permanent grin on my face. The engine (non-injected twin-cam mounted right behind me), transmission (5-speed), and that awesome suspension made me think I was a great driver. I went to Track Day at Laguna Seca in '79, and met Bobby Rahal. Nice guy. Stared at my girlfriend the whole time he was talking to me. Did 4 laps in "Don't quit your day job!" time.
Cried like a baby when I sold it.
It's legacy is a quote that I repeat often to my wife (the girlfriend), uttered by a guy to his friends while watching us get into the car in Santa Cruz, "That car, that chick...THATguy?"

Never considered a Miata seriously but if I were to go racing a spec Miata is a great choice. I tried to buy an S2000 when they 1st came out and the dealer asked me for $7k above sticker with a straight face, that was a hard pass. Test drove an Elise and loved the handling but it was under powered with the worst transmission I’ve ever experienced, bought an E46 M3 instead. Spent a couple years in the UAE and bought a used E39 M5 which was a nice ride but certainly wouldn’t call it agile.
As for the C7, she won me over. Great looks, excellent power, and performance comparable to cars nearly twice the price. More of a brute than a flickable toy but absolutely a blast to putter around town or at 9/10 on the track.

I didn’t think boomers were up in the humblebrag game, but you’ve clearly shown me the error of my ways.
