for now, only 1 class is not getting their non FM prescribed furlough pay. Everyone getting the boot is getting at least 1 month extra of pay and benefits. Not exactly a waste

3. A pilot awarded an MBL will be paid the greater of
a. a twenty-five (25) hour line guarantee, or
b. the accumulated pay and credit for the month.
Note one: Any vacation and/or training during a bid period for which a pilot is awarded an MBL will be paid in addition to the pilot’s line guarantee (i.e., pay, no credit).
Note two: A pilot who has a rotation that begins in the bid period prior to an MBL, will be paid for the portion of the rotation that ends in the subsequent bid period in addition to the pilot’s line guarantee (i.e., pay, no credit).

I'm thinking my scenario applies. Month off with 25 hour guarantee + 2 weeks of VAC ~ 75 hours. (note 1)
There is a lot of flexibility built into this. The old SILs would not allow you to take a SIL if you had a vacation or training during the month. Now you can.

$$ to furloughees is great. I am all for that. My point is the last cycle of furloughs saw 0 furlough pay to furloughs (except 2nd wave only after turned over in court). Wasted negotiating capital. This time IF/when furloughs happen it’s already proven that some of the furlough pay is not going to happen... wasted capital. Counter point amigo.

If this was a typical economic downturn then I'd wager we would win the argument against FM. Not wasted negotiating capital.

i think I’d rather invest in no FM carveout for furlough pay then drop the concept because FM keeps getting used. BTW was it PMDL, PMNW or both that used FM to avoid furlough pay in 2001? I know DL used FM to furlough, given they had a no furlough clause, but were they also able to lower furlough pay? Cheers

A no furlough clause is a debatable item. I’d rather the penalties such as less RJs and lowering capacity on them be expanded and cover all pilots not just those at the time of signing.

Furlough pay on the other hand isn’t debatable. A few months of pay to find a somewhat comparable job and lower expenses is a major stress reliever for those hitting the street. I feel lucky that I was able to find another job that will pay me about half as much as I would make at Delta. I was fortunate enough to have CARES buy me time to do it, but that is the only reason I wasn’t on the street in April/May looking for something.

Tell anyone who has been or will be the recipient of furlough pay that it is a waste of capital and I’m sure you’ll find an argument.

I don’t know what the FM clause was in the previous contracts but right now every pilot will receive some furlough pay. A number of the most senior lost a month and a number of the most junior gained a 1/2 month because of FM. I don’t see how FM wiping out some of the payment means we should just give up all of it. Renegotiate what FM can do and when it can be declared, sure. Erase furlough pay, no.

I admire how you’ve stuck to your game plan though. I’m sure all the negotiating capital that is “wasted” on the undeserving and completely ungrateful junior pilots could be turned into that retirement program you dream of, amiga.

Bid em’ all in a row and knock down on call days to 13 total based on 30-hour required rest periods in-between.

Fish...you are correct that once NQ is placed on your schedule, your name is removed from the RAL.

Problem was guys (me included) were NQ for Weeks before NQ was actually put on my schedule....in the mean time, I kept showing on the RAL.

I started looking up the schedules of the guys/gals that were in my same bucket to see the landing currency date at the bottom.

Yikes. That’s tough.
