“Ed won’t negotiate”...easy enough. Lots more in there that is head down in my opinion and I had a lengthy reply (Internet went out and dropped it on my deployment) but pretty sure that sums it up. Really want you to read my post after that.Originally Posted by Buck Rogers

i didn’t meant to attack you, probably was emotional but your post was just awful.
I wish I knew how the company intended to use this
If they plan on using it to save a few bucks on overstaffed categories only, then I'm not in favor.
If they plan on offering it group wide and then replacing those on leave/reduced hours with potential forloughees, then I am in favor.

I agree he won't renegotiate. He will win on Wall Street with the noncons will furlough as required and will be absolved of bargaining in bad faith. Net net..same amount will get furloughed. In one case Ed gets the publicity win and we take the loss or pass the LOA and we get the publicity win on all fronts especially if it gets to bankruptcy.Originally Posted by palooza

”Ed will not negotiate” is exactly your comment I disagree wirh. If he wants it he will negotiate. The defeatist comes in with ALPA not hitting the news outlet to tell the real story, like ever.

I don't get how you made this jump that this LOA has now become a battle for hearts and minds in the American court of public opinion? That is a huge reach on your part IMHO. Originally Posted by Buck Rogers

Most Americans could give a rats about airline employees, let alone the machinations of labor negotiations of a small employee group in an otherwise expansive ocean of workers.

exactly!!!!! This is going to be looking good on paper only. Won’t actually pay anyone squat unless it’s in company interest.Originally Posted by Owlchemist

also defeatist...ha. I mean people do care about our jobs. When it hits the news airline employees getting furloughed I hear it from all my neighbors and friends: “are you ok?” “Is your job safe?” Also from people down the street a ways..not just my neighborhood.Originally Posted by Drum

don’t think for a minute we don’t care about each other. We do.
But definitely a huge leap going on in that post of public opinion anyway..

My neighbors don't care. They're too busy trying to keep their own businesses afloat.Originally Posted by palooza

It's nice that you have caring neighbors, however I still maintain I don't think we matter to the larger segment of peeps in NYC, SFO, LA, Chicago, Fargo, Detroit, Tulsa, Ok City, Miami, Houston, etc. the American people have no clue who we are and don't really care about us. Yeah it might be a blurb on CNBC or Bloomberg, but in the grand scheme of things to most Americans we are nothing to them.
So Buck saying we have to do something to win the court of public opinion - like vote this turd of an LOA in - I just don't see it that way.
I'm with you and on your side with this, so don't throw bombs at me. I just don't think buck is on the right track here with his battle for hearts and minds shtick.

agreed to an extent but I know Fargo can be knocked off your list. And Milwaukee if you had that in mind.Originally Posted by Drum
