Whistle blower Karlean Pettit

I read pretty much all the transcripts. Probably 20 hours of reading. While the company certainly made some big mistakes and certainly was at fault in some regards, Karlene is no saint. Many of her causes serve her but hurt the pilot group as a whole. If you would like further insight into her beliefs, read one of her books. Doing so is quite eye-opening. And then there is her address at the MEC meeting roughly 2 years ago. Talk about bizarro land.

"Dr" Pettit??!?! as in a PhD?? That is not a doctor. Furthermore, a "doctorate" from Humpty-Diddle?!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA<breathe>AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
How about just a "Delta Air Lines Pilot". That would be all that is required in this case.

Maybe it is against Delta's rules to discuss this case on a public board, but "wisely" thread drifting by mocking Karlene is disgraceful. Her ideas are her own, but the facts of the case are what this thread is about.

This was certainly the biggest issue she had with DL management. She was upset that positive space deviate deadheads did not count towards duty periods. Quite the slippery slope especially given our current positive space to work provision. Would you like the company or FAA considering your pos space to work part of your duty day? This would frequently necessitate commuting a day early even with the space positive benefit. We have discussed this before on APC and we really don’t want the FAA messing with this issue. But she’s the camel sticking her nose under the tent.

Point blank, she’s a narcissist (narcissistic personality disorder). The type of person who would say anyone with less than a 3.5 GPA shouldn’t be considered at delta, while she happens to have a 3.6, then at the same time make an argument for traffic violations being irrelevant to safety because she has 5. Her writings always seem to fit to her convenience, sad really.
Also her writings are nothing but cherry picking to make her case.
Also DL management handled this poorly.

Great post, very accurate to what I’ve picked up on from my readings as well.

Saying they “handled this poorly” is a case study in understatement.
All I want for Christmas is an elimination of the 240-second rule.

Funny thing, after listening to her hours on end, cause it's an international flight and you can't pull a DB Cooper, aviation safety never came up. Just the legal BS against Delta. I almost made a noose out of the escape rope to end it for myself. Ponderous. Merry Christmas.

From the press release at the top of this post: In a consent order dated August 24, 2020, Dr. Altman agreed to be placed on permanent inactive status as a part of a settlement of an action brought by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to revoke or suspend his license, or otherwise subject him to discipline.
