ER is a NB as far as bidding history goes, much less for pay. All the more so post covid. I’m not sure you can extrapolate from the ER to true WB as to OTS openings.
new hires have a 2 year seat lock, unless a new hire gets the 717, they won’t be able to bid 765 or 330 before the 2 year mark, which is why I could see it going to NH in very small numbers. If we start hiring close to 1500/year and growing back to our pre COVID size, I could see a handful of WB slots to NH

No. I am a MOAB A->B and I just converted 1 Feb, so my 6 bid period clock just started and ends, I think, with the July bid.

2 years, the seatlock for NH is 2 years now.

There is a caveat in the PWA about changing categories after 1 year, and the remainder of the initial 2 year seat lock would then be added to the new seat lock.

I still don’t see WB going to NH. NH seat locks aren’t the driving factor, as in order to be offered to a NH, the position has to go unfilled on an AE. So every other pilot would have to pass up a WB.

I’d be happy to be wrong, as that means massive movement opportunities for the rest of us.

True, but that is only if you have to change equipment to get to a particular base.

Right...so someone get ATL 717 as a noob, then potentially go to NYC 400 or 330 after 1 year.

The other wildcard is none of the affected pilots will have a seat lock

I know, but I can’t to see how someone will be assigned a base that doesn’t have a 330 (LAX & SLC) and then Bid NY330.

If they live in the west coast, they won’t commute to NY for a 330 and I believe Sea will stay senior. If they live in the east coast, they won’t commute to SLC or LAX to see if a 330 spot appears for them.

Now that we closed a lot of bases and planes, It will be harder to use that provision.

And the other, other wildcard is virtually zero International flying currently, and projected to come back very slowly. 600 pilots are apparently NQ for landings because there isn’t enough flying to get them another 3 in 90. Mgmt won’t be too quick to plus up the WB rolls, IMO.

Affected Pilots maybe in NY on the -400 IF flying was “normal”, but half the rest of the pilots also don’t have a seat lock.

But the point was NH’s getting WB. I stand by my logic.

NH to 330 might have been possible in the world where we kept the 777s and didn’t cut the 763 fleet, on top of the extra A350 orders (4 used would have arrived), considering the number of 330neo orders that are incoming. Now I’m not sure we will see it unless there is another widebody order to fix the difference. Now 787 to new hire...
