Can I post the screenshots from last May when everyone said AA was going to leave us in the dust with their superior management, or would that be too soon?

I’d love to see a wall of shame of all the doomers who said air travel was dead forever.

I say go for it.

The reality is, every one of us had our own opinions/impressions of how this pandemic was going to play out. At one point, I sincerely believed the airline industry was dead. When you see the TSA clearing 87K passengers when they normally clear 2M, how can you not? And yeah yeah, the industry is resilient and blah blah blah. The harsh reality is this tested it like NOTHING prior. Because it wasn't just aviation. It was business. It was hospitality. Tourism. Commerce. Major backbones of our economy came down and came down like a ton of bricks.

I'm unbelievably grateful we've (seemingly) turned the corner. Contrary to what the media is portraying with these new strains notwithstanding. The numbers are speaking for themselves. Covid is plummeting. People are confident and have money to spend. States are slamming the doors open. Normalcy, despite what "3 Mask Fauci" says, is very very close.

I think another spike is coming, however it won’t look like the one we just came off of. Just my 2 cents based on listening to virologists. Hopefully I am wrong but cases are already rising again in France, Italy and Germany. I think it’s people moving around again that will ultimately cause it, but with a vaccine available we will likely put this behind us (mostly) this year. In the end we will have to live with Covid like the flu. Overall I am cautiously optimistic about this summer.

I convert next month and I'll bet I won't even go to training until late summer.

Personally, I never said air travel was dead forever, but I did say at least one major legacy would fail.

I'm not quite ready to give up on that prediction; it may take a year or two. Although not comparable, after 9/11 there was a resurgence in airline stocks, then a huge resounding crash as most of the major players headed into bankruptcy.

Plenty of huge debts racked up over the last year. International travel will take a long time to recover.

Good time to be a new, nimble, ultra LCC starting up.

Would it theoretically be possible for the company to post like 1000 NYC B positions to bring the UNA guys back and then just seatlock them where they actually want them on the subsequent bid without having to train most of them in their initial category?

they might do this, but I’m sure plenty of people will lateral out to other bases on the same plane they are awarded. Unless they get the 220. Personally I plan to try to stay on whatever plane I can come back on until I can hold 7ER at a decent seniority (75-80%) or until I can hold WB B. I’m sure others will have similar goals

Not exactly, but that is in essence exactly what they will do in many many cases, IMO.
