In case we were talking about wives, I married young. The first thing she noticed was the Casio Databank watch, not the convertible Corvette. She she figured the watch was a sign of future provider potential that overcame my impractical transportation. Had she gone for the car first and scoffed at the nerd watch, she wouldn't have lasted. We both came from average to lower middle class backgrounds, which created a common base for our practical approach to money.
Similar for me. Except I was wearing a members only jacket in my firebird with t-tops. A little flashy, but I’ve always had style/panache.
Traded it in on a Miata, still have the jacket.

In the end, the Ferrari will be MUCH cheaper than that sweet young thing. And ten times the entertainment, to say nothing about future value, as the Tesla.

I am happily married and agree 1000%. Kids make the experience magical and fun. You grow as a couple with them, and it can be a great ride, if lucky. And there is no way to tell if the experience was a success until one’s last day on earth. Marriage is a gigantic gamble, and imho, without the kids, has little value.

as if you need another dude's perspective...but I'll take a stab at it.
To me, a married guy for 10+ years now, to wife number 1, I am grateful every day that I married my best friend. I know that sounds sappy, but it's true. I'm married to the person I'm closest to, that I can literally share EVERY detail of my life with, all the way to my dumping habits. I am grateful that every night, I can call her and say goodnight. I'm grateful that when I go home from a trip, she's there and we share our life and bed and everything in between.
Is it possible I could get home from a trip and she'd be banging the mailman? I suppose. Is it possible I could stray on a layover? Sure. I've seen it with the most loyal dudes and chicks. We're human; prone to weakness and impulse. It happens. And could she eventually clean me out? Sure, I don't see why not. But like everything I do, from scuba diving to shooting to flying an airplane, it comes with risk/reward. The risk of that stuff happening is way too low for me to have ever considered doing something else. The peace of the companionship and intimacy (not just banging intimacy) is far too great for me to have considered another avenue.
Maybe marriage ain't for you. That's okay. Maybe it is. That's okay too. Maybe you'll marry and divorce. Maybe you'll marry and stay married. Maybe you'll never marry. Life is never scripted nor predictable. But it's one helluva adventure, and whatever path you choose, it'll be the right path.

That was my car from 86-87. Well, technically a photo of her twin sister I found on the internet. I've upgraded vehicles a few times since then, but kept the same wife. New cars were MUCH more affordable.

Vehicles are definitely cheaper. I could have bought a nice new car last week in what I spent in retainers.
