They flew some of the A330 on longer than 12 hours missions using a passenger seat with a curtain for rest (one pilot, the other got a bunk). But it was a rarity, not something I ever did in 3 years on the plane).
Over 12 hours the aircraft is class 2 since only one bunk. Under 12 the only issue is the flight attendants coming in and out. Most are quiet but a few are trying to imitate a herd of thundering elephants. Now and then you will get a flight attendant opening the curtains looking for more pillows and blankets. The only other issue is on the TLV flights passengers will stand in the cross aisle and bang their heads against the wall over and over again. I like drum solo’s but not on break!

Do you use ear plugs?

As an outsider, I was wondering if union or Delta will ever have pilots A330/a350 cross typed, that will open up lots of varied trips?

For quite a few reasons, I sure hope not. But I can't see that ever happening anyway.

/sigh/
Another UWB dilemma is when do I eat... and how much.

Not a chance, very different cockpits and systems plus the currency issue would be a giant nightmare.

I actually hope we do one day but it isn’t likely. The more pilots on a given fleet the greater the flexibility to schedule, etc. Plus the combo of theatres these two aircraft fly would make it an amazing fleet in terms of destinations ie Asia and Europe, transcons(kind of like the 07 time frame 7ER fleet).

Cathay Pacific has a dual qual for the 330 and 350 it absolutely could be done here if those pedantic wankers can do it.

This would only benefit Delta pilots if we merged the fleets under A350 pay. If and only then would I agree... and that will never happen folks, men, people, xis and zas.

Issue being that overall it would require fewer pilots, which drives down flexibility. Pay 330 and 350 the same rates and let guys pick their poison.

Not sure why we couldn't merge the 330 and 350 pay rates...everywhere else does.

The A330 and A350 are as different as a MadDog and a 737.
