Easter Meltdown
Looks like the ghost of Thanksgiving and Christmas is back. 73 flights canceled for tomorrow so far.
Middle seat blocking is suspended for the next two days to try and help people get where they are going. |

It's probably due to the leap year last year and those unforecasted summer thunderstorms. :D

Maybe a certain someone should spend a little less time parroting liberal lies and a little more time running the airline.

Where are you seeing we are suspending the middle seat thing? We (NYC320B) still have over 20 trips in open time for tomorrow. But hey, we showed everyone with our woke policies. I left the military because the loss of mission focus was getting so bad. Seeing that same thing here. We’ve lost complete sight of what we are supposed to be able to do but we sure have some really cool pins and flags.

CDC says it’s safe to travel. Will this be permanent?
|
Thanksgiving 2020 Meltdown, Christmas 2020 Meltdown, Easter 2021 Meltdown. That’s 3 strikes in less than 5 months. How many do these guys get?
|
Ed and his crew are destroying the brand and customer loyalty perhaps permanently. Weather is gorgeous around the country, people are raring to go on vacations that they haven’t been able to go on in a year and they have no idea if they will get there because delta sold em a ticket on a plane they knowingly couldn’t staff or are so incompetent they had no idea.
What the F is the BOD doing and if. It then the shareholders. Union needs to send out an email because we are all stakeholders. |
Up to 77 cancellations and rising...
|
hahahahah maybe less time focused on woke racist bs and political pandering and more time on running an airline

Utterly embarrassing |
Trip, Gucci, Ooff? All you guys vociferiously supporting Ed in the other thread have a logical answer?
Just curious....I'm always interested in another perspective. |

It would be interesting to plot cancellations of all the majors for all of the holidays in the last 12 months. It seems we’ve been an outlier for every single one of them.
Agreed. Gives one a bad feeling to say the least. Pre-COVID all they could talk about was how we were the airline that never cancels. They said it gave us a crazy revenue premium, especially with business travelers. I know we have a premium currently due to middle seat blocking, it would be a shame to pi££ that away cause we can’t get our stuff together. I’d say someone needs to be held accountable, but they’ll probably just get a non-bonus bonus and maybe a lateral transfer. |

Remember when they said they could staff the airline with 5,200 pilots...
|
Can't wait for Memorial day weekend, or 4th of July. If I needed to travel over a holiday I'd have no confidence right about now. Total embarrassment.
Pilot staffing projections have been atrocious the last few years... ever since they pumped the brakes on hiring in 2018. I think they need new leadership. We keep erring on the side of cut too deep. |
Maybe in years past when there were pilots who did GS on holidays have finally eliminated their goodwill to the company. Delta has attempted at every turn of the Pandemic to scam us. And this staffing issue has been going on for the last 4 months. Who the hell makes a schedule knowing full well they don’t have the minimum number of pilots? And frankly if I have to turn down another ****ty turkey sandwich, I’m going to puke. I literally Blocked Delta’s number that they use to make inverse assignment calls because I have been getting them for the last 3 months pretty regularly up to 3 times a day on my days off. This isn’t vaccine problems. And evening I did schedule the vaccine of days off it’s sort of hard to fly with the required 48:00 waiting period when my f’ing schedule was built with 72 hours off in between the majority of my rotations. That memo was ridiculous. Maybe Laughter could help out and come fly a rotation...oh wait a minute...

They made their bed, now have to sleep on it. So much for the “team that brought massive profits, trust us”. |
Exactly they wanted to play the mental game with the pilot group. Now they can play the financial game with their balance sheet, they could have recalled the UNAs months ago.what did everyone do, book their tickets last week? It’s apparent that schedule reliability is going to be a problem. Why would I come to work on a day off to be subjected to a self induced IROP.

They could’ve have recalled the UNAs, but...there’s a big training bottleneck. I have trips with LCAs this month...none of them have OE assigned. They never should’ve place people in UNA to save some money and could’ve keep people current every 3 months. They found the UNA loophole, exploited and now have another issue, all while taking payroll support from the government and not being ready for the demand. Summer is going to be crazy...definitely will RT june-august. |

They are now resuming off the street hiring. “What’s a SIL?” - RG |
Love the critical ops update. Nice little dig about pilots getting the vaccine and it interfering with trips. Give me a break. I had no desire or need to get the vaccine. Now I’m seriously considering it.

I stumbled across this online when trying to ascertain how many cancellations we’ve has so far this weekend, under the heading “This isn’t who we are.” The article wasn’t dated, but I can think of half a dozen incidents this could have pertained to, including this weekend. It seems this is EXACTLY who we are.
“This isn’t the quality of service, the reliability that you've come to expect from Delta Air Lines," Bastian said. "We’re very sorry, I’m personally very sorry.” Bastian thanked customers for their patience and loyalty while acknowledging their frustration. "We’ll do everything we can to make sure this never happens again," he said. |

Got my jab last night. I’m the problem, sorry. The memo came out hours later. I understand I let you all down. This is not my usual MO. I will set up a hand picked committee with a diverse background to evaluate this. The committee will have broad latitude to investigate and your cooperation is appreciated. The committee will report their findings directly to me. Secondly, I will personally oversee the implementation of the recommendations for implementing all necessary steps to correct this oversight. You have my full commitment that this will be addressed immediately and thoroughly. Once again I am deeply sorry for your inconvenience and thank you for your support.

I’ve never seen so many people so happy when their company is having a hard time, regardless of how they think it happened. I just don’t get the whole ‘good, I hope they choke on it’ attitude.
Happy Easter. |

Agreed. Maybe it's because I'm young, but I want Delta to go forth and prosper in a manner that benefits all stake holders, especially us employees who have hitched our cart to this mule for the next 30+ years. Really, truly I do. But God damn...there has got to be a better way!
