Quote: From 1/3/23 - 4/4/23, average newhire age is 36.5.

For what it's worth, average of the entire active list (in terms of age hired) is age 35.3.

Again, for what it's worth, the average age hired of the top 3000 seniority on the latest list is age 31.2. This age is biased (since the elders of their respective class would no longer be on the list thus not affect the average of their class), but it is what it is, and affects the list as a whole.
While I really think the “average” will have a great career, it comes down to the individual pilot and actual seniority. You can have some “mid 20 age folks” and some “mid-late 40’s people” and bidding/QOL aspects really twirl…. A younger may bid CA ASAP, and an older person may go for QOL. The next few bids will be interesting. You have folks who have had seat locks, that are now released for WB-B, and others who just want to upgrade, with seniority, and still newer folks who want to move left (but will be junior and stay there). Interesting times.

Yep! I got released last week and I already have every 330/350 position in my bid. I have no percentages and I commute. I don’t care I just gotta try the WBs before I get any older and realize I can’t sleep on airplanes haha. I’m sitting around 11,000 and I’m nervous I won’t even be able to hold it this time around. It’ll be interesting to see just how senior WBB really goes the next AE! Now that we have a bunch of junior folks in those seats, a lot of the 8,000-12,000 pilots will have some seniority in NYC330, etc. so it may seem more appealing to try it for those who want some seniority.

At 11,000 you will easily be able to hold 330B or 350B somewhere with no percentage qualifiers in. Easily. BWYW,WWYB.

Once the US and China lift the bilateral 24 flight/week limit, I bet we'll see daily ATL/SEA/LAX-PVG, SEA-PEK. maybe ATL or DTW-PEK. Y-class tickets are $4000+ now so the demand and yield are there. Lots of good ASM's for the 330/350 fleet.

I’m betting WBB in seats other than NYC will go senior to NBA. I’m 9k ish and likely going 350B vs 330B in ATL as 330B will go senior to 320A.

Sweet, congrats on your next move! The 350 in Atlanta looks awesome. A lot of variety and it looks like a huge category moving forward

I’ll add Delta had planned on starting MSP-PVG in the spring of 2020. That might be back in the mix.

What is the current # of pilots on your seniority list? I've seen ranges from around 14 to 16K. Widget seniority shows 13600 with a projection of 14400 but lists me as 16400 if I was to start class in June. That's a pretty big difference when trying to determine potential seniority progression. Any truth data on what the actual current # is? Thanks.
