One big advantage that the 767ER had- the jets were paid off and Network could experiment with new routes with decreased potential downside losses if the route didn't end up being profitable. Flying the biggest international jets will get you your fill of CDG, AMS and ICN layovers. But, if international business travel ever returns, Network might try again with some great 2nd tier cities. Cities such as GLA, EDI, ARN, FBU, ARN, WAW, LYS, OTP, MAN, AGP, TXL, PRG, BUD.

If you wanted to "see the world", and you were senior enough to hold international, the 767ER, historically, was a great way to do that. Hopefully traffic overseas will return and Network will once again shift the ER to oceanic destinations.

I still don’t get the love affair for the 757. The 757 is a Frankenstein fleet with multiple variants/layouts over years of different purchases. It’s our last fleet with manual set speed bugs and don’t forget to hit VNAV again after intermediate level offs. The 757 is like the MD-88’s big brother that scored 4 touchdowns in one game to win the city championships for Polk High. People remember what it did decades ago and kind of look past the fact that it’s selling shoes at the mall now. The 88 dropped out of high school and went straight to working at the mall, but it never pretended to be anything better. The 757 is a great plane at its core, but it’s showing it’s age. It doesn’t live up to the hype anymore.
Of course it is all opinion, but you could fly it ATL-MCO, or ATL-UIO. Fly out of GUA, BOG or EGE no problem. Throw in the common type with the 767, and you have all sorts of impressive opportunities.

It is loud I admit. I suppose guys wax poetic about it because three decades from it's design both Boeing and Airbus are building infinite retreads of mid-80s designs. And that usable 2L door really is nice, especially when I look at a 321 2L door that is for emergency use only.

I think of it like the dream car from your high school days. It’s outdated now, but it still pulls at the heart strings. It’s a great performer and hand flies nice, but I just don’t get the cult following.
The 2L door is nice and I forget about it until we go to those odd out stations where they use the 1L. I’m not a fan of the 1L door being used.
It does have the most diverse bid pack. LOTS of FL for ATL based, but lots of other stuff as well. I’m not complaining and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon, but I also enjoyed the 88 and would still be on it. As it turns out, all those stickers and T-shirts trying to save the Maddog didn’t keep it around.

Not to that thread drift too much, but how about Midwest 320 vs NYC765? I'd have to commute for the 765 but the seniority would be very similar (50-60%.) It seems that seniority level on the 765 gets some nice Europe trips plus front and back end commutable domestic rotations. Don't know if the pay bump is worth it.

Not sure if you live in base or not but are you already commuting to the 320? If so, I'd take the NYC765.

I've had several friends come from more modern fleets to the 75/76 and are shaking their heads about what all the hype was about. If the 757+/76 gets an avionics upgrade it would be back in the running

-300 has loud fans, 80 db is the Boeing acceptable level. Had a mech ride along on the JS testing them. Some were in excess and were supposed to be cleaned and ducts reworked but its a time consuming process because the entire overhead panel has to come out to access the problem ducts. 80 db is still loud but not permanent hearing loss loud according to Boeing.

The reason most of us who’ve flown it have a special place in our hearts for the 757, doesn’t have anything to do with its tech, or lack thereof.
