comparing a hypothetical religious persecution that hasn’t happened to single breasted vs double breasted is a bit of a stretch

I’ve heard of religious exemptions for certain uniform requirements, perhaps you could get one for your hypothetical pin? I think some religions require long sleeves, so Bucks example probably wouldn’t require an exemption.

This 100%! Why are we 'fixing' the uniform when we have all these other problems. I just hope they don't 'fix' it with the same materials they gave the F/As.

We have had these surveys before. In a few months they will announce that no change is needed and the current uniform is heavily favored by our passengers.

This right here is the likely truth. I told them that the hat needs to be optional. It’s a pain in the donkey when commuting or deadheading because I can’t find a good place to put it where it doesn’t get smashed. Also the jacket needs to be optional all the time. Climate change means an arbitrary date doesn’t mean that we need the jacket. Plus we usually only wear it indoors where it is temperature controlled and now most of us are piles of smelly sweat as a result.

Nothing will likely change but this is my lottery ticket attempt for changes I want.

We finally have the chance to get rid of the hat or at least make it optional, but instead, we are getting caught up in the language of culture war. Who cares why Delta wants to change the uniform. When doing the survey, just try your hardest to ignore words that trigger you such as inclusivity. Everything in life is already political, and the last thing we need is for our opinions on a uniform to be categorized as red/blue.

Don't get your hopes up. I put the chance of getting rid of having to wear our hats with the "uniform refresh" somewhere around 0.0

Scoop 10-13-2021 04:53 AM

For all you folks trash talking the uniform need I remind you how disastrous some ummm, most, of the FA "uniform refreshes" have been?

If you think it can't get worse think again. When I think of any change more involved then just dropping the hat this is the image that comes to mind:

Danger!

No long sleeves. As mentioned earlier only weirdos wear them. That and pilots hiding tats. A JetBlue flight attendant was recently almost strangled with their tie. Good enough reason to ditch that article of clothing. Plus the only other employee group wearing a tie with short sleeves are grocery store baggers. Maybe we should ask “paper or plastic” when the passengers board.
A coat when the weather dictates. Something functional with a removable liner, not a suit jacket. We are not businessman, we are pilots.
The hat? It’s a throwback. Get rid of it as it serves no useful function.
So yes, something else altogether. Looking professional doesn’t mean looking like a doorman. It’s 2021. Let’s dress like it.

A complete overhaul of pilot uniforms is necessary. They're all extremely outdated, Delta's the most by far.

There's a reason doctors wear scrubs and tennis shoes now. Let's try to be as smart as them and get something as comfortable as possible. Stop worrying about looking like a gold plated polyester peacock walking through the terminal, thinking you're impressing anyone older than 5 years old.

Comfort and function. Our days suck, our trips suck, our deadheads suck, our overnights suck. Let's at least be as comfortable as possible to mitigate fatigue as much as possible.
