Think that made you the "promptestly" available of the alleged "short call abusers" back in the day. 😁

the fact that those idiots got their jobs back is ridiculous

If you want to avoid calls for unrealistic report times -- Qualifiers.

I couldn't be bothered by the hustle. There will be other GS's.

Technique only.

Nah. People love the dopamine hit of getting that Arcos callout. Same thing for people complaining about getting calls all hours of the night - even though they literally asked for it.

Yep, it's super easy. I never get bothered by GS calls because I don't put in slip requests. I have my phone set to automatically go into "do not disturb" mode from 22:00 to 06:00, so I don't get woken up by IA calls either. Easy peasy Lemon squeezy.

You might want to read the exception to 22.S.7.b which says "[t]he pilot must be able to report for a rotation with a report as early as two hours after the start of the short call period."

That's not a definition of promptly report. That is a trade-off you can make to be able to not be available for contact for the first 2 hours of a short call period. Short call report time is not 2 hours. Its not approximately 2 hours, or loosely 2 hours. It is promptly report.

This technique works for me as well. Maybe we are the reason that there are over a hundred cancellations today due to no crews available. I am too tired to do any extra flying.

Then don’t. Nobody cares about how you run your life.

Sounds good to me. However, the previous poster asked "Please show me where there is any reference, loose or not, to short call notice being 2 hours." I provided one reference (and to be clear, that was a reference, not a definition), that's all.

Is 4 hours from notification to show promptly reporting? How about 6 hours? I think you will find the Company and ALPA have developed a general understanding/agreement over the course of 20+ years that "promptly report" means around 2 hours (NYC and LAX excepted due to co-terminal operations). If you are reporting 2+01 later, no one is going to bat an eye. Report 4+31 after call-out off Short Call and I suspect there will be a follow-up call.

But my point is that’s not a reference to short call being two hours. You make a deal to disappear for two hours and the price is you will be on the hook for something at 2 hours. That’s it.

Yes, the company frequently tells people it’s generally two hours, especially to new hires who don’t know anything different. But PWA is intentionally silent.

I guess we will differ on this because I think most people who have been here a while would agree that it is generally accepted that reporting within 2 hours satisfies the requirement to promptly report. It is not a hard and fast number but it is the generally accepted time period which establishes Sailing's "zone of reasonableness." The PWA does not lock us into a specific time (unlike some other airlines which do) and that is a good thing for us However, the exception was drawn from this long-standing accepted practice which is why the PWA exception says 2 hours rather than 1 hour or maybe 3 or 4 hours. However, to keep things consistent, the exception should be intentionally silent as well and merely state the unavailable pilot will promptly report without a stated time period
