Pay banding should be nothing more than a bridge to longevity pay.

how many people do you think bid from 737 to the 320 for the pay rate. My bet is pretty close to 0. And I’d be willing to bet no one bids from the 717 to the 220 for the pay.

with that in mind I would think getting the NEO rate for all 737 and 320 variants would be more beneficial to the pilot group as a whole vs keeping the 737/319/320/321CEO at a rate $10-$12 dollars an hour lower on the CA side.

Someone will have to be senior. I'm fairly senior already, but I'd wager that if the 717 was banded with the 220, my seniority raise wouldn't be impacted at all. Even today, once you get above 30%, it's a slow rise.

Agreed. UPS set the bar on this and the industry should be moving in that direction.

UPS flies 80+% widebodies and yet pays about the same as we pay 757 and a321NEO pilots. No thanks

Id rather keep our pay by AC type.

years 11-24 5 weeks
years 25+ 6 weeks

I understand where scoop is coming from, but we had a long way to go in getting our vacation up. If we had left week 5 at year 19, week 6 probably would not have happened until close to year 30, which a lot of our list will never see.
I heard in olden times vacation maxed out at 7 weeks. Can anyone confirm this?

You would rather our earnings be based on the type of flying that the whims of network decides? United pilots out earn us almost exclusively because of the size of their WB fleet. If we were all on the same pay rate, we wouldn't have to care nearly as much about the current lack of WB on order.

pay banding eliminates choices. Let those who want to chase money do so; others may not.

Thats a pretty narrow view of things. If one didn’t have to chase money then they could chase quality of life and open up a whole new bevy of choices, no?

i agree. I don’t mind banding aircraft together that are similar like the 320 and 737, but we should definitely keep a few bands. It allows pilots to choose money vs relative seniority. Plus the training churn is also a win for pilots.
