When Delta had a lot of two man flights we certainly practiced a form of controlled rest. It's not a easy thing to do between high demand times, radios, meal services, bathroom breaks, message alerts and the usual problems from the back.

Thank goodness for the power of Unions in the USA, let alone safety. Seems like carriers outside of the USA are in a race to the bottom. Crews are already paid well less then US counterparts then companies extracting more savings having these poor folks fly 2 man across the Atlantic

The industry for pilots outside the US is a dumpster fire. "Worker's paradises" indeed.

Talked to a Virgin 350 crew a while back, they can do MIA-LHR two pilot, while their captain makes less than a DL WB B.

And our company is trying to cash in on some of those savings by increasing outsourcing and joint ventures with these carriers. I am hoping we can negotiate further tightening of global scope in our next contract, and am happy we were able to even have global scope restrictions in the first place in C19

I will always take the chance to suggest everybody takes a look at ALPA PAC, and considers either joining or slightly upping their contributions.

yep. with our latest contract and the work the PAC did to tank Age 67, there really isn't any excuse not to be in the Behnke Club

absolutely. No one with our income has an excuse for not doing Behnke level.

Controlled rest is not the mechanism that allows them to fly to the eastern US. ICAO rest rules allow it. In fact so does FAR117. We just have a strong enough union to have it encoded in the contract. Controlled rest is great though. Had it in a previous life.

The only way 117 allows this is after a 48 hour overnight or with a late afternoon departure.

ADG offers some disincentive to 4 day trips. But 117 is the driver to a lot of our 3 man flying out of NYC- British isles/Northern Europe and back.
