23k Question
I’ve read the scheduling alert 20-08 and tried to look it up and still a bit confused. I had a trip next month 23k and in the remarks on icrew it says no recovery. I checked the reserve call status information and didn’t see anything. Does this mean I’m off the hook? I apologize again, this hasn’t happened to me before so I was unsure. Thanks!

Likely means the rotation was incorrectly built and they had to pull it and rebuild it. If so, then no recovery for you and you can fly over the footprint (equates to double pay) or just enjoy the time off.

The turns have tabled on the FFDO who apparently didn’t threaten his captain.

Interesting, but I don’t mourn an FO who jokes about his pistol being a veto over captain authority and discharging every bullet into me because I was “still twitching”. Glad he’s not employed here anymore whatever the outcome of his suit.

Ah, but would you submit false testimony to federal investigators to absolutely ruin his life?
Noone would have been making any testimonies if he didn't make a joke about his gun. I'm with you that what they did was wrong, and he should win pretty easily. I'm guessing it gets settled with him taking a nice check from Delta. However, why would an FFDO even make that joke, especially with someone you really didn't know. Just seems like poor judgment. I'm a gun guy, own lots of them, but I don't see how making such a joke was a good idea. |
The initial call with the FBI with the Captain stating he was clearly joking seems like strong evidence. The Captain's cell phone records must of been subpoena'd too. Will be interesting to see how this turns out

It wasn’t a good idea, and I’d be surprised if he wouldn’t agree himself. But we’ve all had lapses in verbal judgement; under no circumstances should that justify false testimony and the tremendously damaging effects on this guy and his family’s life and livelihood. He would not have been fired and lost his military security clearance for poor humor judgement - he was fired and charged with a felony for threatening a crewmember. That crewmember knew and originally gave a recorded statement to the fact that it was not a threat and he did not feel threatened…until he lied about it later because he thought the guy was weird.
I'm aware, I've read the whole lawsuit document. I agree that the way he was treated was criminal, I also think that the Captain and some of the CPO staff should be fired for their part in what happened. If the union defends the Captain after the way they treated the FFDO, then shame on them. I think he will and should win a nice settlement. But being an FFDO and joking about threatening your fellow pilot with a gun is a pretty egregious "lapse in judgement." As a pretty strong gun proponent, you just never know how others react around weapons. I've seen what I thought were normal people begin acting irrationally just because someone was open carrying around them (totally legal). Now, would I have done what this Captain did and reported it, absolutely not. I'd have been and adult and cautioned him that I wouldn't joke about that as an FFDO and went on my merry way. Even with that joke, I don't think he should have lost his job, but maybe he should have lost his FFDO position. I've carried sidearms on numerous deployments and somehow, I managed to squeak by and never joke about using my gun on a co-worker. |
