PSC Vs Medical Insurance

Part of the benefits of working for an airline is travel. That benefit was part of the compensation. My family probably gets $15-20000 in travel a year. If I get that amount in cash, I’ll buy tickets. Until then I’ll embarrass myself all over the world.

Also, it blows my mind that people who make upwards of $200k/year don’t just buy tickets. We even have a discounted option! You know what our loads are like, you’re making the conscious choice to do that to yourself.
Stop being such cheapskates. It’s pathetic and embarrassing hearing highly compensated pilots whine about nonrevving. It’s like seeing boomers scream at fast food employees for getting their order slightly wrong. Embarrassing.

Reason being I utilized the PSC commute but do not utilize Delta’s medical. I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t use the Delta medical.
Now I know this is going to draw a lot of hate, but I want it to be stated, it’s as ridiculous as people saying the end of the LOA was a good thing.
Opinions? Am I wrong? Seems to make sense to me…

You find it embarrassing that one would be conscious of this expenditure, and lament a degradation of their historic non-rev benefit?
Personally, I periodically shop internet rates, cell phone rates, home and auto insurance rates, pay attention to gas price differences, negotiate large purchases…all for less savings than $5,000/year. Never thought I was an embarrassing cheapskate, but I’ll take it under advisement.

This is dumb, every single time I've called and talked to crew scheduling on my FIRST flight option and asked for a seat they give it to me. The company doesn't care about your non-rev seniority, they care about keeping the planes in the air. Besides, this comes into play how often? Once every two years? I've never been screwed over by a pilot trying to get to work, I have been screwed by phantom S1A's and rogue gate agents. Other pilots aren't your enemy. Logic may support your theory but in reality you are just yelling at the clouds.

Y’all are missing half the equation. So far everyone is talking about getting to work. Really I don’t give a **** about to work, if I don’t get there I will sit at home and drink beer. The company can go find a bag and eat them.
What’s more important to me is getting home. Here’s the conversation two days ago.
Hey babe, I’m going to try to make the 4, if I can’t get on because it’s currently oversold by 10, I will try the 8, which is also oversold by 6. Lastly I have the 10, which has 1 seat open and 15 non-revs. The most senior guy is a 69 active employee. Luck isn’t in my favor right now.
I managed to get the jumpseat because the guy who had it ended up with a RR.

I’m amazed at the number of pilots that non rev on vacations. To me a vacation is that glorious week or 2 I don’t have go anywhere near an airport!
Last time we “non revved” was 2014 to do Euro delivery on a car, and that was using PS passes. I would gladly trade my travel “benefits” for PSC, maybe that should be an option.
