So, going back to the original trial balloon floated across this message board from CC, who thinks that the MEC would ever send that for MEMRAT?

I can NOT believe that it would even make it TO the MEC (from the NC) for discussion, much less be sent to us for a vote. It would just result in another 'TA1' or UAL-TA1 shoot-down.

Time will tell if my optimism is misplaced, but I get the sense that this MEC isn’t going to pass us anything that won’t MEMRAT by a healthy margin. I don’t have the data they do, so who knows if my yes vote threshold looks anything like yours, but I’m not worried myself.

"Insufficient reserve coverage for a normal PD over the days of a rotation or reserve on-call days you are trying to drop will keep you from being awarded a Payback Day drop request. To circumvent this, you may use your Authorized Personal Drop (APD) or one of your Individual Vacation Day (IVD) events to drop rotation(s) or on-call day(s)."

IVD and APD + payback days are gold. It’s like adding 3 more weeks of vacation per year. Just pick a high time 5+ day trip and wala.

• Reversing Pre-10 a.m. reserve report
• Eliminated changes to the LPA
• Reverted to current untriggered reassignment order for
lineholders
• Eliminated hiring of retired United Pilots as pilot
instructors
• Removed adjustment to the CRJ-550 maximum takeoff
weight
Second, while work is not complete, United and ALPA
agreed on improvements to Line Check Airman, Instructor
and Evaluator scheduling and pay.
Third, for weeks now, we have been working with ALPA on
a range of other quality of work life issues which will
benefit every United pilot, both line-holder and reserve. I
am pleased to report that we are very close to reaching an
agreement on these items.
These improvements - plus our ongoing commitment to
industry-leading pay - are the right thing to do and the
foundation for the next tentative agreement.
Obviously this is an email from management. We have stacks of emails just like this from our company, are we close to a TA too?

They literally said they wanted to see someone go first. Now they are close a TA because they sent a email that threatened the pilots about how much debt they took on in Covid and the economic uncertainty coming in next 12 months (yes they really said that). Then bragged about beating Delta in earnings in next paragraph. While listing bullet points of “improvements” for things that never happened because of the failed TA????

This ^^^^ I honestly can’t believe this was mentioned with a straight face. Sure it’s an improvement of their previous offer, but the status quo is not an improvement.

I hereby propose each pilot should get 1000 hours of sick time per year. When the company objects, I’ll lower it to 270 hours a year. Think of the incredible improvements the company will get. Everybody wins.

What do you mean pick a high time 5 day trip? I don’t think IVD and APD pay the way you think. They are both great for getting time off but they aren’t great for pay.

He said with payback days. Have to use PB days to get the time back.

Any word on the negotiation sessions this week? Maybe just maybe there will be some more urgency to get a deal done.
