Ideally, sure, sailing is right. But if we can see that so can management and theyre still gonna slow walk negotiations. To pretend othwrwise is silly |

We’ll know if “Sailing was right” only when we each can evaluate whether the eventual ratified contract was worth the wait. My hunch is that answer will also differ from one pilot to the next. This contract sets a vector for my next couple decades of work, so it’s as much about what we gain in the short term as what precedents we do and don’t set for ourselves and the industry at large. I cringe to imagine what management would have required to sign an early contract in 2019. Thank goodness that didn’t happen. |

I don't know how they began their negotiations (maybe they weren't moonshots), but it seems to me that Endeavor, Mesa. and the other commuters have been successful at making it to the moon.
How would you characterize what they achieved and how they achieved it? |

And we are glad you provide that conflict. This place would be boring without you. Seriously.

A extreme shortage of pilots at their level they gave management two choices. Shutdown in the very near term or pay a huge price to downsize dramatically but orderly and survive as smaller airlines. Delta just cut the interview rate back because they have to many pilots in the pool.
We just had 20 unfilled NYC 7er captain positions on the last AE and the junior award went to someone hired 6 months ago. Maybe times are changing. |

Everybody on here is negotiating in public. It sure looks like the MEC is trying to walk back their demands. Would posting you want more be the same issue? If they announce a modest contact will you be on here complaining?

I’m speaking figuratively. That’s fine if you think that, though.
My opinion is based off the fact that certain players on this board constantly undermine our NC. Our union has asked us not to negotiate in public. To me, anyone who does is doing management’s job for them…hence my comment. I agree and disagree with much that you, Trip, OOff, Sailing, scoop, tegridy or any of the other frequent posters put on the board. However to me, negotiating in public is a red line that shouldn’t be crossed, no matter your opinion on it. Save your opinions for the NH Polling phone calls or talking directly to your reps. The 18/5/5/5 thread should be closed. Just one guy’s opinion. |

Really? Always taking the Company side. It’s just tiring. How about the Company has walked back their demands? I am sure where their demands are now are less than when the process started.
Based on history I will wager it is ALPA. |

I saw their opener, which detailed their priorities, as established in communication with the membership. Is “demand” management speak for “priority”? |
